Guest guest
This is an updated post I made about a year ago: My oldest son (11 years old) is /ASD. He was treated by Dr. Goldberg from Oct 2002-July 2009. No, he is not recovered, but is continually making progress. I gave birth (over-due, induced with all three pregnancies) to a second boy, born Nov 2005 and a girl born Sept 2008. With both of these pregnancies I followed Dr. Goldberg's basic pregnancy guideline- which is following the diet and an alternative vaccine schedule. You stay on the /low allergen diet while pregnant for yourself/unborn baby and then while nursing. And keep the baby on the diet once starting solid foods until he/she is 2-3 years old. **The other key factor in reducing the risk of another " " kid is an alternative vaccine schedule. You opt out of the Hepatitis B vaccine (the hospital didn't push it for us since my oldest son reacted to it) and chicken pox. Otherwise, you split up the other vaccines, giving DTP and polio when you go in for the 2, 4, and 6 month check-ups, and then come in on the " odd " months (3, 5, and 7) for the HiB and pneumococcal. Our local doctor has been willing to work with us this way. Any GOOD doctor would be willing to side with caution, and the parents, in my opinion.** I was able to breastfeed my second son for two years. (My oldest had a low sucking reflex and never learned to latch on properly). Younger brother has taken medication 5-6 times times for illness/infection in his life, compared to my oldest who was being treated for an ear infection at least every other month his first year. He's never had sleep/night screaming issues or any of the other issues my oldest had during his first few years. He's a happy, healthy chatterbox and has passed his older brother in social/language skills. But he has been the BEST therapy for his brother. They tickle each other, roll on the floor together, play ball, and play board/card games (with adult help). My daughter is developing wonderfully. She's still nursing, has only been sick/on medication 1-2 times, and hasn't had colic or trouble sleeping at night. She's 18 months and is speaking a couple hundred words and even in short phrases at times. (Plus she's potty training herself- go girl!) Oldest brother is even sweeter with her than he is with his brother--he instigates games like peek-a-boo and hide-and-go-seek with her. And keeps her out of trouble when she starts to get into something she shouldn't. Again, siblings make great therapist for the /ASD kids. Hope this is helpful/reassuring. - in Mobile, AL ______________________________________ " You must write for children in the same way as you do for adults, only better. Her brother we feel vaccinations is the reason that heis as sick as he is today. She is perfectly healthy in every way. My daughter took her to a immunologist at Cincinnati Childrens trying to explain to this Dr. was a waste of my daughter`s time She was so frustrated leaving her office. This Dr. refused to listen or learn anything about this protocol. This Dr. says test now show it is safe to vaccinate this little girl my daughter is thinking about doing the whooping cough first.Although very cautious. We are scared I know Dr. G thinks our children should be vaccinated Curious any thoughts out there. Has siblings to your children been vaccinated? Carole
