Georgiasand32 - Just curious - What in the probiotics does the doctor think he

is allergic too? The actual bacteria itself? The toxins in the die off

reaction?  I believe Kirkman makes gfcf probiotics. Is it something else in

the pills/wafers that they believe he is allergic too?

My son had a rash break out when we tried Three Lac - I had to stop that. (Plus

one bacteria in that has been questioned about safety.)

I have been hounding Dr.G at every consult about probiotics but he specifically

wants my son to hold off on starting them again. Since my son is allergic to

almost everything he wants him to take time off from it as he suspects he was

allergic to these as well. I am anxious to start again but have seen no

difference-- good or bad--since cutting back drastically on all the DAN

supplements including probiotics. Does your son have high allergies?

It may be that because probiotics have a direct impact on certain parts of the

immune system - certain bacteria trigger the TH1 arm of the immune system and

many other things, he may simply be concerned about them making the immune

system too 'hot' in a specific area.  He usually encourages them, so he has a

very specific reason.

I can't take them at all - it sets off stomach problems, and triggers anxiety

and ocd.  I have to manage yeast issues w/diflucan.

> Has everyones kids shown improvement?

I don't know that all kids will improve on the protocol, but our son

has. In his early years, he was sick all the time, but he's been much

healthier since starting antivirals and antifungals. He started school in a

special education pre-K classroom, was added to a regular Kindergarten

classroom the next year with an aide, and now (fourth grade), he's in the

talented and gifted program. Last year, he got a perfect score on his

standardized tests (TAKS test in Texas). That didn't surprise us on the

math, but it did on the verbal.

We've always been able to tell he was smart, even before starting the

protocol, but lots of things are just harder for him. He learned the

complete alphbet (very early) before he would say " mom " and " dad " . He still

doesn't pick up social rules easily, he gets in trouble at school for

behavioral issues, and he has trouble forming his sentences and writing. So

we're certainly not done. But we have made so much progress from when all

he could do was use words to label things, not to communicate what he

wanted.

My son gained language when we started the diet at age 3. He's been on

protocol a year. After a few months his HHV6 was normal. His NK% is up from 3 to

7. All of the blood work that was out of range a year ago is now normal. He's

starting to read now.

This sounds SO MUCH like my son (except getting in trouble for behavioral

And what results did you see?  Any observations of changes, positive or

negative?

My son was on the DAN protocol for years also.

Dr G did say we could use Kyodophilus for

probiotics.

Meera,

My son is close to 4 and we did not do any HBOT but did lot of

supplementation last 1 1/2 year. We saw nothing from supplementation. This

is how we ended-up seeing Dr. G in the first week of March. My son is still

non-verbal. He had one word before he regressed around 14 months of age. Dr.

G said no for SPECT scan at this time as we did not do HBOT.

Did you see any benefit from HBOT?. Is your son verbal?

Thanks

Kotesh
