Guest guest
With my good allergy guy, when all allergens were removed, clear skin. If issues with anything, the skin is the first to show signs of issues for us. Get the skin clear, add back and see what happens. Stools follow, often runny nose, sudden cold like symptoms and then you might think an asthma flare. All signs of a food being an issue. BTW - bananas and latex often go together so watch out for that. Tammy Re: [ ] Re: Bananas Thanks Dana, Only recently, my sister in law was wondering why her NT son was becoming a little more hyperactive than usual after eating tomatoes(he is only 2 but loves to snack on tomatoes-will prefer these to lollies) and I had to explain they are high in salicylates and he could be getting a 'high' from eating them. I had no idea that bananas could be a problem for kids. Another thing I'd forgotten to ask about besides his loose stools is that he's been having major excema breakouts which only come back with a vengeance in the same spots if a steroid cream is used to clear it up. Can amines cause excema/cause it to keep coming back?. I'm definately not giving him bananas any more to see if they are the cause of his soft stools/excema, but would love some more input regarding the excema. Donna. Bananas are high amine, which many kids don't tolerate. I have amine links on my phenol page, because amines mimic phenols most of the time http://www.danasvie w.net/phenol. htm Or, he might not tolerate bananas as a food. My son did not tolerate bananas except with No-Fenol enzyme [even tho they are low phenol, that enzyme works on fruits for a variety of reasons]. Bananas also increase yeast. Guest guest
we've had the same eczema problem with our five year old, only with soy. & nbsp; our pediatrician told us to use hydracortizone cream...yeah right...she broke out in these hive like sores. & nbsp; we eventually nailed down soy and use the aveeno eczema lotion, and seem to have finally gotten it under control. & nbsp; I've had friends complain of dairy a lot, but bananas is a first for me. Guest guest
Ds had his first normal poo today(although a little on the hard side)Â since about 2mths ago. I havn't given him a banana for a few days now although he has asked for one but keeping ok with my explanation of not having any-all gone. I can't believe that something as simple as banana consumption could also minimise his excema breakouts and lessen his 'silly hand and oral stims'-yeast? Donna. Guest guest
Bananas and latex often go together too. I had a friend that hated bananas. He said every time he had anything with bananas in it, his tongue and ears itched. I said wow, you're allergic to them. He had never thought of it that way and just thought he hated the taste of bananas. It was a light bulb moment for him. My mother gets sick every time she eats shrimp. HELLO! Allergic!!! Guest guest
We're new to the Do's and Don'ts of Diet. Are bananas out? My husband says they are a tropical fruit (true), but they've always seemed so benign... You take out berries, tropicals and melon and it doesn't leave much
Guest guest
Hi Tammy, My son was very intolerant to bananas for a loooong time. They are in the same family as the rubber tree so if there are any latex allergies, then bananas must be used with caution. Think ORCHARD fruit - apples, peaches pears and plums. They are usually more tolerated. That being said, I don`t think Dr. G is completely against bananas. That would depend on whether your child`s IgE and eosinophils are high and Dr. G is trying to bring them down. It could also depend on your perhaps removing them, having the child`s bloodwork become within `normal` levels and then reintroducing them. Quite often these elimination diets bring about better clarity and a realization that something you thought was fine, is indeed, not so fine. Remember, the diet is only 2 fruit servings a day, including juice. There was a loooong time that the only fruit my child could eat without reaction (Ii.e. peeling lips, red ears etc.) was pears. Think veggies instead of fruit. There is less sugar and therefore less yeast growth for a dysfunctional system. The diet is the hardest thing that we continue to work on, even after all these years we continue to tweek! Guest guest
And they attract mosquito bites too. ________________________________ From: <jlhank80@...> Sent: Mon, March 29, 2010 9:48:43 AM Subject: Re: Bananas  For my kid I couldn't because it feeds yeast very very well. It seems to cause intestinal inflammation afterward, then. - > > We're new to the Do's and Don'ts of Diet. Are bananas out?
