Guest guest
hi Jay, my son is on aabout 800mg daily of magnesium, but my Dr has a special blend of calcium and magnensium carbnonate powder mixed at the local compounding pharmacy, as this blend is great for ph levels as well as he is really acidic. thats great then definitely start at the lower doseages, and once you see a positive just stict with that dosage. it does not have to be the recommended. have you checked his ecoli count, as in stool sample. as you need ecoli to metabolise tryphothan into seretonin. and an ssri is a seretonin supplement if you like. i know that i have zero ecoli in my bowel (where seretonin is produced) and my sons count is very low too. supplementing with mutaflor. So what I am learning is basically to go with a very low dose of whichever SSRI (looks like what works for one won't work for another)we start. Unfortunately my son gets 'stuck' even on magnesium (at 250mg ) though he wasn't like that before. Dr.R is great ! He is very understanding of my son's extreme sensitivities. He did say I could start at 1/8th of the recommended dose. With many drugs, (like azoles esp)my son's WBC and neutrophils will take a huge dip besides his bad reactions Thanks again. Much appreciated. Jay > > > hi Jay > from a person with aspergers, i have had to go down this road. i am exceptionally sensitive to things, medications being one of them. i had the worst experience with zoloft, and i know of a few others that have major issues with it as well. i have tried a few and not very good, made me extremely aggitated, it made me feel on edge and like i had no control, it was just horrific. > i am on lexapro, and have had huge success with that, the minium dosage is 10mg, but my Dr told me to try half 5mg first, it was great has killed the anxiety, ocd, but the down side my brain feels like a snail, not as quick and sharp as before. i tried to go up to 10mg but same thing my body to sensitive. > so have been on 5mg now for 7 years. > also magenesium is super fantastic for anxiety issues, i use huges amounts on my son for his anxiety and it works wonders. as having issues with sensitivies, and experiences the affects of SSRIs i do not want my son to go that route, but that is my choice and i am not passing judgement on anyone who does, just beaware, that you do not have to go the recommended dosage for it to work, you need to find the balance for what works for them and is safe ( as not cause them to go the other way and get agro) > > > > > > > From: jkrishnaa@... > Date: Thu, 25 Mar 2010 00:28:31 +0000 > Subject: Celexa or Zoloft ? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > My 12 year old son is a patient of Dr.R and has been on Famvir. He has severe anxiety issues, OCDish behaviors (not related to strep as his ASO has been very low and no active strep ever in the last 10 years or so), he gets 'stuck' doing something and will get really mad trying to do that thing over and over. My son is extremely sensitive to many things esp drugs but I would really like to try an SSRI soon for the above problems. Dr.R suggested either Celexa or Zoloft. > > > > My question is which of the two is better for someone with the problems mentioned above. Which is better tolerated ?
