Guest guest
Dear Britta, I too have had experience with the NYY Autism Center. Contrary to you, my experience was excellent, and gave me the opportunity to gain some knowledge about the folks that work there. The director is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to autism, its causes and treatments. She neither accepts a salary for her work there, nor does she get any recognition for her dedication or the long hours she puts in to change the outcome for the families affected by autism. She has only one reason to continue to do what she does; she wants kids to get better. That said, I understand your wariness and suspicion about doctors and other professionals who claim to be able to help our kids. There are so many out there who hope to make a profit by taking advantage of our desperation. As a parent, I too have encountered those kinds of people. But the NNY Autism Clinic is not one of them. I can't speak to this incident with the NYY Autism Center. I can only say that my relationship and the relationships of the parents I have sent there have been life changing. They are a wonderful and dedicated group of people who truly know what it is like to walk in our shoes. I have and will continue to recommend them without hesitation. Guest guest
Not to make excuses for how you were treated, but I can imagine at times that working at the center can be stressful. Unfortunately, we don't know what may have happened before your call that caused this woman some frustration and anxiety. Most of us have occasions when we're stressed and lash out at others. Although her behavior was definitely unprofessional, if we had the opportunity to put it in context, it might be more understandable. Please don't let this experience dissuade you from pursuing help from the center. All the best, Robyn ________________________________ From: and Marcia Hinds <hindssite@...> briffa77@...; Sent: Thu, March 25, 2010 8:49:29 PM Subject: Re:I'm in utter shock Dear Britta, I too have had experience with the NYY Autism Center.
