Guest guest
, I don't know why, but my daughter had that exact problem in her first draws...also very high cholesterol (over 200) I do know that with doing those values got better. I wish I knew why but I think it shows how sick our kids really are! - > > My sons BUN creat ratio is high its 28. The range is 14-21. Anybody have any ideas? From what I can read it means kidney damage or dehydration but I don't believe he was dehydrated at the time. His RBC is low as well. Does anyone have any other info? Guest guest
The ratio is usually unimportant because it can fluctuate throughout the day, whether or not you had fluids right before the test, etc. You're not that far out of range so it's 99% likely it's a matter of hydration. He doesn't need to be dehydrated to throw the numbers off, just not having had a drink in an hour or so or even drinking right before. You really only need to worry about the ratio when the creatinine is off. Check the creatinine, if it's fine, then there's nothing to worry about. Low red blood cells means he's anemic. You'll likely be put on iron and Dr. G *might* check b12. Cheryl ~http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com ~@midian42~ On Apr 26, 2010, at 5:21 PM, S wrote: > My sons BUN creat ratio is high its 28. Guest guest
There are a lot of causes of anaemia. If the Hb or RBC is significant low and cause some concern, there a whole series of blood workup that need to be done not just B12. Any good doctor would do that and especially Dr G. Low iron is very common in most children including ASD kids. ________________________________ From: Cheryl L. <cheryl.lowrance@...> Sent: Wed, 28 April, 2010 6:03:18 AM Subject: Re: High BUN/Creat ratio The ratio is usually unimportant because it can fluctuate throughout the day, whether or not you had fluids right before the test, etc. You're not that far out of range so it's 99% likely it's a matter of hydration.
