Guest guest
Hi, My son is dx ADHD, SPD, and Aspergers. He had stopped wetting the bed last fall-he is 8. I was so thrilled that I didn't have to buy good nites anymore! This past week-spring break-he has wet the bed almost every night. One day last week he had an accident on the way to school-we have a long drive to the school where I teach and he was asleep. Is this a normal type of setback? Maybe he is over tired? We have had no change in diet and he is not on any meds. But he has been really tired?-Thanks, ka " Mom, I'm 6 years old now. Even a few daytime 'mini' accidents- more when we increased the dose after the first week- i asked the office about this and they called back saying Dr.G said it was die off... He never has an accident during the day, but unless we wake him up at 11 PM and 6AM, he is consistently wetting the bed. Guest guest
ERICKA Every Christmas break and spring break we have bed wetting. I get up for work at four or five and check him, he is dry. It generally happens around seven. During school he gets up a 6:20, his system is on a schedule and his alarm clock is off. During these breaks it is not unusual to have him sleep until 9-10. Now I wake him at 5 and send him to bathroom. Guest guest
ka The other thing that happens is that when Connor is in school he lacks physical exercise he sleeps poorly. It is about academics until three and and then an hour or so of burning calories/playground. Then Homework, dinner and living room time. and he tends to embrace the computer and electronics. If I am available as opposed to his support people (no aftercare) I get him up and out. Bike, swimming, just burning off energy. When that happens he tends to sleep early, sleeps soundly from 9 - 3-4 AM and gets him self up in the middle of the night and goes to the bathroom. If I am not available I put him to bed on schedule after homework with little exercise, and he is restless for several hours. When he does reach deep sleep it is much latter and he wets the bed in the early morning because it took longer for him to get rested even during the school year. Getting him out and worn out allows him to recover, rest wise, faster and his level of deep sleep seems to be earlier in the night and he can control his bladder in the very early morning. Regardless I have found if he is left to entertain himself (Breaks or School) he rests poorly early and sleeps later and bed wets. If I run him ragged he sleeps soundly and gets him self up for bathroom issues. During breaks he is less scheduled and spends more tome on computer/TV gameb oy if I am too busy to make him get exercise. Hence wet sheets on breaks, From: meera327 <mckataria (DOT) com> Subject: Re: bed wetting groups (DOT) com Date: Saturday, April 10, 2010, 1:01 PM We just started antivirals a few weeks ago as well and this happened to us too. Guest guest
hi Bill, this is so true...we are much more active in the summer, and my son sleeps much better. (i do as well!) During the school year, he gets so worked up...sometimes he is just starting to let out his anxiety about school at bedtime. By the time he tells me about whatever it was, it is time for bed, and then he gets anxious about the next day....i am so jealous of these homeschool moms! On the one hand, I am grateful that i do teach in the public schools. Our summers and breaks go like this-first there is a difficult transition, where he does loads of stimming and gets really wound up. He scared me last summer, when he read a catalog so many times, and would not allow me to change what i said on each page.....but then his OT told me to do a picture schedule...we did, and every day we either went swimming or hiking. With that kind of heavy exercise and the structure of the picture schedule, he did great! Then back to school, where he is supposed to learn-hah. His teacher feels the picture schedule is ridiculous because he can read. She totally does not get Aspergers. She thinks he would have no problems if I out him on meds for the ADHD...but that is not hte whole problem. Anyway. we are changing schools next year, so maybe we will get something better...like finally services!!!!!-thanks for listening, ka " Mom, I'm 6 years old now. Guest guest
My son wore the pullup good nights until he was about 14, and then it stopped. He wouldn't wear them tho until he was nine, so there were a lot of wet sheets and covers. It ran in our family. I chose not to use meds as he was on so many as it was.
