Hi Kristy,

My son had weird looking toenails since he was a baby. With the anti-

virals and his Podiatrist it got better. A good Podiatrist can treat

it fast with a foot-creme.

Hope it helps :)

The reason why I ask is that my son had a terrible chronic foot fungus infect

for a few years. At the time there was little I could do. He was on an oral

antifungal but both Dr K and Dr G said that the oral did not effectively treat

the extremities. I treated it with a variety of topical creams and the cortazon

creams worked the best.

I often questioned where the antibiotics he was on contributed to the condition,

The literature implied that they kill off beneficial bacteria that help control

fungal infections.

Sure enough when we finished the needed antibiotic part of the protocol (his ASO

came down to normal) and stopped the eyriped the fungal infection cleared and

never returned.

Foot fungus is NOT age specific, EVER!

Go to your pharmacist and ask for a good safe steroid based topical ointment.

Then keep him in clean cotton socks, keep his feet dry. Is he on the spectrum?

That sounds like a condition that is sort of autoimmune in nature - has a name I

can't remember - I'll try to get back to you on it, and you can google images

and see if it's the same.

OMG...BULL! It sounds like Athletes Foot. Clean your tubs with bleach to kill

the fungus. (With plenty of ventilation, of course.) Someone in your family must

have it and it transferred to your child via the tub.

Also, in the warm weather, wear sandal-type shoes. Dry between the toes well

after bathing. And treat with an antifungal (OTC is ok).

What is wrong with eryped (an older erythromycin)? I think I took that AB a

while back.

Interested in knowing.

Thanks,

My son had a chronic fungal infection on both feet we fought for a couple of

years. I read in the literature that antibiotic use can kill off beneficial that

help control fungal infections. When we finished with the eryped (His ASO came

down to normal) The fungus cleared and never came back!

Bill,

This is true. Antibiotics are not selective which bacteria they kill off. They

kill both the good bacteria and the bad bacteria and some people do not know

this. When you kill the good bacteria, you leave yourself open for all sorts of

problems, including fungal infections.

I just was not sure if there was something specific to eryped that caused

fungus.
