Hi Sloan,

Thank you so much for your very informative information. It really makes sense

to me. I 100% agree with you for " Doctors should listen to their patients and

given them clear and thoughtful answers " . I actually had the same experience

like what you had.

Now, I start to be relaxed to take off B12 for my son.

By the way, do you have experience for mineral oil? What brand name is the good

one you have? Does it address both digestion and constipation?

Much appreciated,

Xiao

Hi Xiao,

Thought I'd add our experience. When Dr. G tested my son for B12 he came back

1303 (in the HIGH range). He had been doing the B12 shots every 2 days for 8

months so it makes sense he was high.

I asked the same questions when we first started with Dr. G. so I very much

understand your concern about taking him off B12. I was terrified to take my son

off his supplements as I really believed that was what was holding him together.

We stopped the shot (and all of the many other supplements) two months ago and

he did not regress at all. The opposite, just taking him off the supplements

improved his energy and engagement (not to mention he no longer gets red ears,

which is a miracle to me... since it was an allergic reaction he was having

followed by nutty behavior).

When we were going to a DAN doctor we got used to calling the shots with my

son's treatment. I told the doc what treatment I wanted to try and she wrote the

script or gave me the supplement. That is NOT the way Dr. G works and frankly,

it shouldn't be the way doctors work at all. Doctors should listen to their

patients and given them clear and thoughtful answers. My advice (and this is the

advice I got when I first came to this board) is to just listen to Dr. G and do

what he says. He has a reason. Clearly the B12 is filling some need your son's

body has... however I would speculate that his need to B12 is caused by his

immune disfunction. When the immune system is corrected, your son's body will

process the B12 correctly. Giving him the B12 isn't going to fix the problem,

its just treating one of the symptoms. And according to Dr. G, this kind of

supplementation is not just a band-aid, but can be dangerous as it can

disregulate the immune system even

more.

Best of luck!, Sloan

WASHINGTON, DC - A new study, " An Autism Cohort Study of Cobalt Levels Following

Vitamin B12 Injections " , published in the most recent issue of the peer-reviewed

Toxicological & Environmental Chemistry , confirms a significant association

between the frequency of methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) injections and

blood/urinary cobalt levels in subjects diagnosed with an autism spectrum

disorder as well as a significant association between cobalt exposure and damage

to human neurons.

It was previously suggested by investigators that methylcobalamin (the methyl

form of vitamin B12 [methyl B12]) injections may play an important role in the

treatment of subjects diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. It was

determined that the typical dosage of injected methyl B12 (75 µg/kg bodyweight)

utilized in subjects diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder results in an

instantaneous exposure to cobalt equal to about 25% of the entire normal

body-burden of cobalt, and that this exposure is to be repeated every several

days for an indefinite period of time. The aim of this new study was to evaluate

the potential effects of methyl B12 injections on cobalt levels in a cohort of

subjects diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
