Guest guest
Hi , We had immediate and long lasting results with TMG with our daughter as she was experiencing all the emotional stuff associated with puberty that caused rages, melt downs, temper tantrums and severe aggression. Tmg slowly raises serotonin levels, thus lowering the rages, aggression etc. DMG I have had my son on DMG for a few weeks. I say immediate great results in a lowering of tantrums and aggitation. But it seems to have disapeared. I have heard that this can happen with DMG. Would it be this fast? Has anyone else experienced this? It was a GREAT two weeks without tantrums - - now we are back to the full force. Thanks,
Guest guest
From what I remember reading about...it is an amino acid that increases blood oxygenation. Was the first supplement I gave my son. Was amazing for him. Always give with extra B12 and folic acid, can cause hyperactivity. Kirkman sells them together. Kirkman Labs used to have all kinds of research on their website and I very much remember reading that this has been tested dozens of times and shown completely safe. Also said that some 80% of autistic kids responded favorably to it. I did that alone for 2 weeks and added Super Nu Thera and actually started feeling like I was getting my son back. There are some who have had issues with SNT though. Ask others about that. Have to say my son is not at all sensitive to supplements so that may be why I only saw great things with him...eye contact, little to no stimming, better moods, more tolerant of people he didn't know, less anxiety. Something I would recommend trying based on what I saw. At two years we were giving him 1 tsp liquid everyday. Can't remember dosing for SNT. Guest guest
We started DMG 2 weeks before starting mB12 shots. Our DAN! told they are to go together. We get the liquid from Kirkmans, and it is sweet, so it has no bad taste. It is ont of the very few supps that we DIDN'T have a bad reaction too first time around. My son has done very nicely on the shots twice/weekly and 1tsp DMG/daily. Hard to tell if the DMG on it's own does anything, but like I said, the combo has been great. Hope that helps- a In , Hochstetler <andrea_hochstetler@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone! Hope y'all enjoyed your weekend! I was > just wondering if anyone has any success, or failure, > with DMG? Guest guest
Hi, We've used DMG for about 9 years. When we first used it, we couldn't tell if it was doing anything until we stopped it, and our son fell apart. He's just a *much* nicer person when he takes DMG. It seems to level out his moods a bit. It can contribute to dark circles under the eyes. -- In , Hochstetler <andrea_hochstetler@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone! Hope y'all enjoyed your weekend! Guest guest
Another a here with good results from DMG... We saw an increase in language reception with DMG. It did cause some hyper/stimminess at first but then leveled off. The speech therapist could always tell when we had dosed. Truly, a
Guest guest
My daughter responded very positively to TMG. When she hit puberty she started getting extremely aggressive, having rages, temper tantrums and fits. Within 2 days of trying TMG, all the above subsided beautifully. I highly recommend it for any one whose child is starting puberty and you see an increase of the emotional turmoil I've listed above. Maybe I'll try some of our DMG on her and see if it works. thanks for the info! Sheresa > > My daughter responded very positively to TMG. Guest guest
Dear Sheresa, DMG and TMG are 2 different supplements. The TMG naturally raises serotonin levels, thus reducing the rages and aggression. If you want more information on it, type in TMG and Autism into your computer's search engine. You can buy TMG at your local health food store. Good luck. Re: DMG I have a 9 year old daughter with ADHD and ODD. She also has these fits of anger and tantrums, disobedience. Guest guest
Thanks - I realize they are different, but I always understood they served basically the same purpose, but that TMG contained an additional methyl donor. Maybe I am incorrect about this. Anyway, I have both in my cabinet so maybe I will give it a try! Sheresa > > > > My daughter responded very positively to TMG. Guest guest
Hi, DMG is dimethylglycine. I first heard about DMG thru this listserve. There is information in the archives. I've always gotten the liquid dmg with folic acid and vitamin b12, supposed to do better with its function.... Been giving this to my son Mark for the past 3.5 years. He doesn't swallow, and opening the caps and putting it in his juice for some reason changed the taste. Getting the liquid dmg with vit b12 and folic acid, put it in his juice, gives it a sweeter taste, no problem. My son is very finicky, so for us this works...Lots of trial and error sometimes. Hope this helps some. Any further questions, please let me know. It has helped with Mark for his behavior and attention and his ability to stay calm and not freak out so much.... Guest guest
we had awesome results w/language and eye contact. Can be given anytime, with or without food. we give 1 tsp at breafast and 1 tsp at lunch. The one w/folinic acid and B12 from Kirkman is good if he has hyperactivity (without these could make a little hyperactive). Give a week to adjust. Guest guest
Internesting Liz. Thanks for sharing we are using 1/2 tsp and it is a gradual build up to 1 teaspoon. [ ] DMG I've been mulling over the DMG stuff as it was on my mind prior to this discussion. Reading the posts I am a little annoyed at my hubby for saying it was safe. Since he has the flu (yes, the flu...do you believe it!) I won't be bothering him about this just yet. He is a research scientist and has access to journals so there may be more to his statement. If there is I will post. Also, back when I asked him DMG was a small part of a multi I was considering. It may have been such a small dose that he was correct. I did want to mention this: The little reading I have done states it helps with liver cleansing. Many things do that like vitamin C. High doses of vitamin C have been linked to cancer according to Dr. Furhman which is why I no longer take that. I was taking it after my amalgam was removed this summer at the direction of my dentist and still took less than she said. I have also taken GSE for liver stuff, organic, not the stuff that is supposed to contain ammonia. Still, while it cured what ailed me at the time I showed up high in ammonia on bloodwork. Colleen is having success with this with Charlie, his weight and growth are stable and she is using it along with other nutritional, medical and therapeutic supports. The regimen she is using is tailored to his specific needs. I think when taking on this stuff that is the way to go so as not to solve one problem and start another. The DMG studies that cast a negative light seem to relate to high doses and are on adults. A lot of focus is on elite athletes who likely take other liver-damaging stuff to excess. Still, since there is likely no standard dose has been studied on kids for obvious reasons there are risks. Lastly, I have a general rule living here in the northeast. I won't do any big changes until summer when we can all get out there and get our vitamin D fix and preserve/heal our livers. Just my 2 cents. Guest guest
Our DAN has recommended DMG to us, and he said it is very safe. I will ask him about the issues brought up here. Apparently, if your child is going to benefit from it, it happens quickly once you reach the highest recommended dose (for us, 3 tsps. of the liquid DMG). I think you're suppose to see results within a week or two, and some have them immediately. We have not seen any burst of language (new or otherwise) since starting DMG, although I do think we get less screeching. We've only been at the top dose for a few days, but if I don't see a big jump by the time my inventory runs out, we may just drop it. He is taking so many things right now, and I would rather focus on the things that are really powerful and the things that are more basic and safe, like carnitine, CoQ10, fish oil, vitamin E, etc. in NJ > > I've been mulling over the DMG stuff as it was on my mind prior to > this discussion.
