Your understanding is unrelated to reality. Hopefully that isn't what your doctor said. Reality: All autistic children and other very sick or toxic people have low glutathione. Many of these people have HIGH cysteine and in fact are making glutathione quite rapidly, they just use it up fast too. Glutathione has nothing to do with how the chelators capture, bind and remove toxic metals from the body, and doesn't influence the rate of excretion on chelation. > So wouldn't this result in resdistribution of mercury (if it is pulled > out of the cells but unable to be excreted from the body)? Guest guest
How much NAC is needed for a 51lb 6 year old--known to have a low Homo-Cyysteine (she was <2.5 with a reference of <11.4) I just want to make sure we are making the best out of chelation and when I read about how cysteine and glutathione helps REMOVE the mercury it just seemed to make sense. Is this some kind of " die off effect " or should I stop the IV glutathione?? I am really terrified right now. ----------------------- Hi Dana, You may want to consider stopping them. I've tried to build my low levels of glutathione, but I have intolerable side-effects with any of the supplements that would build it, such as cold-processed whey, NAC, transdermal glutathione and others. One thing that may be involved for me is high levels of mercury in my system from dental amalgams, which I have replaced. Also, my liver does not detox well as shown by testing. Have you been tested for heavy metal? Mercury interferes with glutathione and other processes. Another factor that can be involved is a bad reaction to high levels of sulfur which some people cannot process. There is even a Health Group based on that problem called " Sulfur Stories. " Below is a link, sentences from their homepage and a member's post about taking glutathione IV's. sulfurstories/ Homepage Comments: " The role of sulfur in biology has been overlooked through the years, but there are many disease processes where the sulfur chemistry is under particular stress. Dietary supplements which try to meet this need can be wonderful for some and cause surprising adverse reactions in others. " Member's Post: Jul 20, 2005 Subject: Re: [sulfurstories] Digest Number 861 I do not do so well with glutathione IV's although I get no yeast symptoms from them like I do from the oral or nasal routes. But I do tolerate IM injections and trasndermal glutathione. The reason I do not do well with IV is that it is in too high of a dose - usually like 600mg. Where as I do 50 mg IM shots mixed with about 12 mg of ATP. I had one guy tell me it helps to do IV bicarbonate with the glutathione and this make sence to me since I get very acidic from taking glutathione and often get an extrmemely acid stomache after taking a larger than normal IM dose. Guest guest
, Yes, I did have mercury toxicity, but have removed all of my amalgams and done a significant amount of DMSA chelation. I have been getting 10 grams of glutathione, plus 50 grams of ascorbic acid, twice per week, by IV. On Thursday I did my fifth treatment. My brain feels like there is hot wax running through it now and I am afraid to go to sleep now because it feels like I am going to die when I do. It could be the ascorbic acid too. I am going to try just the ascrobic acid tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. Guest guest
dana i don't think you should get this reaction. there is an oral glutathione that a guy named dr. harry demopoulos does that he says _is absorbed. he was a professor of pathology at new york university medical center. http://www.thyogen.com/hindex.html i have used 5 gms a day with no unpleasent effects at all. he has a patent on this oral form. harry has been doing GSH since the early '80s. i was taking it for myeloma.....but it did not help me - nothing has so far except flax seed oil/yoghurt for a couple of months. see if you can phone him. a number of clever people advise against glutathione for cancer.....great before you get it,but not while you have got it. harry argues this from another angle.....somewhat above my head! joe > Dana Herbert wrote: > >> I feel like SHIT on glutathione IV's!!!! I suspect the problem isn't the glutathione but its method of delivery. IV glutathione doesn't enter cells where 90% of your glutathione is needed. What IV does is spare some of the glutathione that IS manufactured in the cells, from exiting the cells. This sparing effect is what was proposed in the study. Glutathione sparing does not take into account that precursors, and therefore glutathione production, may still be limited, and intracellular glutathione may still be depleted because of an avoidable cysteine peptide deficiency. This will result in suboptimal performance of one's regime, not just because of unquenched oxidative damage to the cells and mitochondria, but the glutathione is also an integral part of the ATP energy cycle, which is already low in cancer, so low that cancer is listed as a mitochondrial disorder. Bottom line -- you need the glutahtione precursors. Duncan
Guest guest
Low glutathione in mercury toxic people isn't necessarily an indication for supplementation. It can simply mean that mercury toxic people use it a higher rate than normal people. [ ] Glutathione ..so most people do NOT use glutathione here during chelation? This supplement keeps popping up as a subject as so beneficial.

Guest guest
We use compounded glutathione cream from our Dan Dr and put it on our sons feet before bed . Just 3 weeks on so not sure it works. Dan Dr says Kirkmans cream tends to give a rash Glutathione What is the best source for supplementing glutathione? I've read that giving straight glutathione is generally a waste as it is not absorbed, but i've read that most ASD kids are low in glutathione. So how do we increase it? I did a week of straight Kirkmans and then switched to the AOR Classic Series. Hands down the AOR won my test trial. Actually, it didn't seem as though the lotion did much at all for my son. Guest guest
I am seeing a lot more energy, better attention, better speech fluidity.... just a lot more 'with-it' and a lot less spacey. Results were pretty quick and were about 3 to 7 days from initial start-up of the oral glutathione. The cream really isn't working for him.... don't know why. I have found this good response from my son with a lot of sulphery products. He responds extremely well. He has low sulphates (very, very low) and so his body just sucks it up! Guest guest
What are the symptoms of " low sufates " . If my son has a phenol sensitivity, is that a prediction of low sulfates? The autism and mercury site has a lot about glutathione, some people say it could cause more harm then good but I don't understand the details. Guest guest
I use AOR classic series pharmaceutical grade reduced glutathione. 500 mg Here is a link to the product I purchase. I am from Canada and can purchase it from a high end vitamin store. Here is a link to the product but I don't see them selling it online. http://www.aor.ca/int/products/reduced_glutathione.php Here is their contact info. I would bet that you could place a telephone order but I would look at high end vitamin stores in your area. I think the key is to get enough glutathione as the body probably only absorbs a percentage of it. 500 mg seems to work for Mark. All of the other products I have seen are less in mg. http://www.aor.ca/int/contact.php Hope this helps. Good luck.

Guest guest
I don't think responsible physicians will offer, or responsible parents will accept, glutathione IV's for autistic children except under the most extreme circumstances due to the fact that while there is often temporary benefit, many children eventually have a horrible permanent irreversible regression after one of them. Certain irresponsible physicians who have caused this kind of problem innumerable times continue to insist the procedure is totally safe and they've never seen such events, which is why it continues to be employed (along with the fact the doc gets about $150 each time they do it). Guest guest
We use glutathione cream from the Kirkman website. When we gave the dose we were told to give by our DAN! our son threw up all the time. We've had to cut the dose in half. Any benefits? Really hard to say. My son is improving all the time, but he is on many supplements and improvements could be contributed to any of them. There were no overnight " wows " but we think it is worth sticking with for right now.   Good luck. ~Angie in Kentucky   From: furstc0404 <furstc0404@...> Subject: [ ] Glutathione Date: Thursday, December 31, 2009, 9:02 AM  Has anybody tried Glutathione? Guest guest
Kooky (how fun), I have tried lipoceutical glutathione and a topical method. Both were disasters. My son would immediately get bad diarrhea and be extremely emotional. This was even on a lowish dose. The symptoms went away both times within 48 hours of stopping the glutathione. I haven't tried it in 3+ years and not since chelating. I think I'll stay away. I currently use alpha lipoic acid as a chelator, which also happens to help boost glutathione levels and is a liver support. Pam > > > > Has anybody tried Glutathione?
