Guest guest
When I asked Dr G about probiotics, he said OK to use a simple kind. I assume he meant a good quality one? Can someone please help me on what kind of probiotics Dr G likes to use? From: <thecolemans4@...> Subject: Re: Activated Charcoal Date: Sunday, May 23, 2010, 11:17 AM  Just keep an eye on things regarding 'die-off symptoms' when starting probiotics. You could attribute a negative reaction as die-off, but some strains of probiotics will actually set off sensory problems and OCD in kids because they may stimulate cytokines that may already be elevated in your kids. OCD and anxiety are what you need to watch for - if you have big increases in this AND is doesn't go away within a 2 week time (average die-off period), then you could actually be stimulating ocd with this. I don't want to discourage using probiotics but this is a potential side effect. It's certainly worth hanging in there for a month to make sure it isn't just die-off, because they really are important. I would bet it is only about 15% of kids who can't tolerate some strains. HTH. Sorry to add any worries to starting those, but they have simply wrecked my world a few times before I figured out the connection, so I don't want others to go too long not knowing the potential. ________________________________ From: and Freeman <freemanbk@...> Sent: Sun, May 23, 2010 8:38:07 AM Subject: RE: Activated Charcoal  I am hoping to go to the New York Autism Clinic within the next few weeks with our son. I have been giving him appox. 4 mg of zoloft and he is more aware but still has attention problems. He was taking Strattera but I am scared that it may interfere with zoloft. They do not offer tenex here in Canada. He has been on clonidine (similar to tenex) in the past but it made him sleepy and it wears off easily. He is taking Complete Probiotics (excellent quality!!) and I noticed a lot of die-off symptoms so decided to try activated charcoal (AC) at night. He also gets his zoloft at night. The AC seems to help a lot. Any advice is always appreciated. Just be careful when you give the activated charcoal. You don't want the charcoal to absorb the medications Dr. G prescribed to help your child. Guest guest
I don¹t know... Anyone out there that can help us? Adult patients of Dr. G? You could look at the ingredients and see if they are the same (and if the manufacturer is the same). It may just be a different dosage (larger pill or something). Caroline G.
