Guest guest
Dear Tina, Thank you for your input. Did your friend tell you why she was advised to have a colonoscopy?--- ~Suzanne
Guest guest
Thank you, Barry. I see (on this site) that due to prior surgeries and many abdominal adhesions I am considered high risk for the colonoscopy. This is the first site where I've been able to learn this! ~Suzanne > This is an informative site about colonoscopy. > http://www.bellydoc.com
Guest guest
Hi Tina, I've read an old interview with Dr. Schultze re: colon cancer and diverticulitis. I gather that I have a sensative bowel as I regularily have up to 3 bowel movements/day. My biggest bowel problem is really intestinal gas. If you have a site for the recent newsletter, I'd love to read it. Sorry to hear that your friend is not considering altering her eating habits and doing colonic cleanses. One of the most amazing things for me after my first cleanse was having NO inestinal gas for days! Imagine how good it felt to not have the gas cramps. Thanks again for your input. Guest guest
Dear , This is what gives me the idea that my bowel is sensative: - the excess intestinal gas and the " urgency " involved in needing to have a bowel movement. I am not always having such Urgent movements and can see a pattern with stress diet and other things. -I also know that I am very bunged up inside and full of scar tissue that holds my organs firmly together and immobile. Yes I read the interview online. I've tried to relocate it, but it's being elusive just now. It was an interview with Paolo Alto (I think). Should I find it, I'll give it to you. > Did you read the interview online? I'm puzzled at why you'd say you have a > sensitive bowel because of 3 bowel movements/day when most that I've read of > Dr. Schulze's writing indicates that 3 a day is actually optimal. > > I'd be interested to read it if you can give a url. > thanks, > rachel~

If you ask them what the odds are that something will go wrong and that your instestines will be pierced, if they are honest, they will tell you that the odds are 1 in 1000. Now that to me is very bad odds. I have a friend who just had his second surgery trying to repair the damage done from a colonscopy. There are blood tests that will tell you basically the same thing - I would go with the blood tests. What are your symptoms that the docs want you to get one of these dangerous procedures? Guest guest
Angie, I had mine done and didn't experience any problems at all. Maybe you could talk to the staff before and let them know of your concerns. Make sure you're scheduled as the very first pt. before others come in with fragrances .. I'd speak with the office manager and give her your background. If anyone wears colognes hopefully they would be willing to wait until after you leave. Sue What do MCSers do with a scheduled colonoscopy. I feel like cancelling mine. Can we tolerate valium? Fragrant staff? Is it better to stay clear of the chemicals and exposures and just still wonder - At 50 they say to get one. " they " hm -angie

Fragrant staff? Is it better to stay clear of the chemicals and exposures and just still wonder -At 50 they say to get one. " they " hm-angie>> Good Morning. I had one done 2 years ago. Went very well. I asked in advance that the staff not wear any fragrances, explained why in a gentle manner and they agreed.I also requested to be the first patient of the day. I didn't want sedation because I wanted to see everything that was going on; especially being able to view the inside of my intestines. The physician was hesitant at first with my request for no sedation and insisted I take something for the pain. I promised him I have enough medicinal herb knowledge to take the appropriate herbs. I even brought my herbal tinctures with me and just in case the pain was severe I showed the nurse how to give me the tinctures. I was very uncomfortable about 2/3 into the procedure and the nurse assisted by massaging my abdomen. Not moving is crucial and difficult with the muscular cramps I experienced. Talk to them, ask what alternatives they can give you to valium. I believe the procedure should be done " just in case " . Other than bloating for the rest of the day I had no problems.
