this topic has been covered here previously but my son regressed

suddenly aged 8 to 9 months and the striking feature from day one was

hyperacusis which plagued him for about 9 years (we were slow to realise that

the

professional advice we were receiving from all quarters was substandard!)

anyway just before his tenth birthday he started AIT and within a few months

of completion his hyperacusis disappeared never to return and he has just

celebrated his 15th birthday.

Hi Marcia,

We started working with NNY Autism Center. My son is now on the

protocol. We had blood tests done and turns out he had a herpes simplex I

infection (who knew?). He's six years old now but regressed between age 2-3.

My son has hyperacusis. He covers his ears frequently and it's very

debilitating. He is on Valtrex to address the herpes. I'm wondering if his

hyperacusis is due to brain inflammation in the temporal area due to the herpes

infection. We started the Valtrex about 1 month ago

I wanted to ask you if you saw improvements in sensory sensitivity with

your son over time? Will the sound senstivity eventually disappear? Is it

due to inflammation caused by a virus? What helped the most? Did you use

anti-virals and for how long?

Hope you don't mind all the questions but this hearing sensitivity is a

big problem for my son. Any information/insight is appreciated.

Thanks,

..

What is AIT? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Thanks.

,

It is so important to use what they love to help them. And you are doing

that with the art. I love the story about the drawings of Captain Hook and

Pan. They are masterpieces and glimpses of what is to come. I have a

funny story about Captain Hook. When my daughter was little she asked her

father, " What was Captain Hook's name before he lost his hand? "
