Guest guest
There is a book called The Diet Cure by Ross that helped me change my diet to get candida under control. She uses amino acid supplementation to target specific symptoms, but the amino acids only need to be taken until health is regained and then diet alone is sufficient. She explains sugar cravings, and tells how to manage them, and what amino acids to take to get rid of them. Also, taking 1-2 Candex capsules between meals and before bed is very helpful for me. I am a former sugar addict, had a SEVERE sugar problem which undoubtedly weakened my immune and endocrine systems significantly, but getting sick with Lyme has forced me to finally tackle the sugar issue I'd been attempting to break for 10 years, and it is now no longer an issue. Nobody should underestimate the damage sugar can do on its own. I've never drunk alcohol or smoked or done anything else damaging to my body except feed it sugar, but sugar is enough, and incredibly hard to break the addiction. Shauna Hello all. Hope everyone is doing as well as possible and improving. I have been through the abx routine (unsuccessfully) and am currently using a Doug Coil machine. I do herx, but after a recent break to let the herx completely clear, I found very little improvement after 4-5 months of Lyme treatment. I also herxed while treating Bartonella (which is the freq I started with), but showed no improvement after a similar timeframe. My husband recently read something about Candida and Lyme, and the author felt there was a definite connection to continuing symptoms like mine and believes that the symptoms will not go away until the Candida is handled. I'm guessing that there are others here who have dealt with the same problem since so many of us have been through heavy abx, so the question is, how do I get rid of it? It's not as simple as avoiding sugar for me. I am definitely sugar-addicted, and when I try to stop eating/drinking it, my body revolts in a major way. I remember reading on here a few times about a supplement or something that was really good at knocking out yeast/fungi, and I was hoping someone could give me the name of it or another good treatment. I'm hoping that if I can start getting the Candida better under control, that I would finally be able to make the necessary diet changes without feeling as terrible. I am already almost house-bound and spend probably at least 75-90% of my time in bed. I also have terrible pain, not controlled by even 50 mg/day of Oxycodone plus OTCs. I won't let them to give me anything stronger because I have kids to take care of. So you can see why I don't want to add to the misery with a severe reaction to sugar-withdrawal. However, you can also see why I am very eager to get better (as we all are). So basically, what is the best way to deal with this? I am hoping to build a homemade ionic foot bath after we wrap up the school year (we homeschool) in the hopes of helping detox, but I sincerely doubt it will take care of the Candida by itself. And I desperately want to change my diet but doing so with no additional help to deal with the Candida is beyond miserable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Lorrie,Cream of Tartar is supposed to drown candida. I make caps from bulk COT powder (nuts.com, or bulkfoods.com is WAY cheaper than grocery store spice shelf)) and taking several every day seems to help. For me, they also seem to have reduced that sugar addiction a bit, probably by reducing the candida which was making me crave sweets. Just remember that nothing will eliminate candida very effectively if you continue to feed it. (and don't get into artificial sweeteners, as they're another deadly trap no Lymie needs)(not a doc, just a Lymie-lab-rat, speaking only from my own experience)Be well,Léna Hello all. What I have found that worked the best of all was lufenuron myowndoc.com then comes the iodine protocol 20 to 30 drops a day of lugol iodineand a few drops of DMSO all mixed in a cup of water first thing in the morning for 4 weeks be carefull ramp up very slowly with lyme as it is an excellent pathogene killer too it took me four month to get there because of herxing there is a oncolgist who uses bicarbonate of sodium to cure people from their cancer, cancer being fo rhim the result of fungus . so itmay be a good idea. so you may want to pu tin you eenamif you do soa tea spoon of bicarbonat eo sodium armandarmer dos nto have alluminium in it . theif oil is used with a dry sonic vaporisor to spay every where and kills th efungisin your house for good the car too , the mms does somewhat a good job but temporary . finally th eozone kills fungus on contact but, it does not penetrate only if it is in contact . I do ozone IM and rectalor vaginalinsufflation and the reis an obvious immediate improvement for me . however I had to buy the ozone generator . everything else I tryed diet herbals coconuts etc was just a lost of effort time energy and money .I di dnto try the cream of tartar. last we need to reimplace or improve our gut flora. Guest guest
hi lorrie, been through the sugar withdrawal many times in my life. no matter how you do it, there will be some reaction to it. but it must be done, kind of like the herxes we expect when treating lyme. some of the things suggested will help ease it though. one time i had to do it i ate carrots to help ease the transition. carrots are sweet and should be avoided , but in the beginning they can help. maybe some apples also, then later go off of them. don't go 'cold turkey', but take a few weeks to taper off and make it easier. another thing that may help is magnesium. we are all low in it, and i have recently seen improvement using it. helps with anxiety and other symptoms. also vit b.you are making a wise choice to do this. so many people aren't willing to make the diet sacrifices, would rather deny it or side step it. good luck, barbara Hi Lena , Hi Lorrie, Thank you to remind us the cream of tatare in gells ( ou tof it , ti si quite unpelasant ) I am going to add this to my actual protocol. Guest guest
Hi Shauna, Some people have a harder time breaking their sugar addiction than others. i was diagnosed with hypoglycemia and told to cut out all sugar and caffeine immediately, I think when I was about 35 (so about 35 years ago). I remember the withdrawal as being terrible, with terrible fatigue, headaches, muscle and joint soreness and stiffness. I would never recommend to anyone to make such a drastic change so suddenly! Guest guest
I was definitely addicted to bread! And then discovered I am gluten-intolerant. I also heard that food addictions are often related to allergies. Khaya > > > > > ** > > > > > > > > > Hello all.
