Kathy,

For my son, once his system became more normalized all the stomach issues

went away. The excess gas is just a symptom of the immune problem. My son

was sometimes constipated or at others had the runs. I know the diet seem

confusing but Dr. G is right. I will send you something offline that may

help. How old is your son? He probably has been ill for a long time and it

takes time to get better. Even once their bodies start working normally, it

takes a normal child three years to be fluent in language.

All this waiting for the miracle is hard for us moms. We want it right now.

But it doesn't work that way. It is slow and steady. Sometimes it is ten

steps forward and one step back. But it is extremely important to have some

sort of rehabilitation program (we used ABA principles) to teach them what

they missed when they couldn't learn because they were sick. My kid is in

college, has friends and is recovered but in the beginning I had to teach

him all he missed until he started learning like other kids. It is

extremely important for parents to realize the medical alone is not enough

without rehabilitation. Think of it like a stroke victim you need to bring

back once they are better. I know it seems overwhelming but don't look at

the big picture. Take it one skill and behavior at a time. We would pick

only one thing to work on until it was mastered. Then we went onto the

next. Hope this helps,

Marcia
