LOL, my eyes' sensitivity to light is so crazy now, I could never survive outside without sunglasses...the sun is so bright I can't see what's going on, glare everywhere! Anybody else have the " photophobia " thing going on? It's real fun. I want it gone. Never used to need sunglasses before getting sick. I even wear them shopping, like at Target and grocery stores with bright fluorescent lighting - makes shopping less confusing.

You know, there's that nutty Marshall Protocol that says to avoid Vitamin D. My take is that something like sunshine couldn't possibly be bad for you, until you go getting sunburned. I could see supplemental vitamin D maybe being detrimental, but my level tested low, so I take 5000iu/day, plus I'm outside in the sunshine every day, though not exposing as much skin as I should as we're Mormon, lol.

Always best to have as much skin showing, no sunglasses and no sunscreens..

Take care,Jim********

Hi Shauna, I too have extreme sensitivity to light. I am with lyme treatment only just starting to go outside without sunglasses and not get a migraine! It is nice to finally shop inside without glasses on. I don’t know if the marshall protocol is correct. It says vit d feeds lyme I believe...and that blood tests test the wrong type of d etc....I don’t follow the Marshall protocol, but there advice about glasses was spot on. Once I bought glasses which filtered the type of light they recommended (lyme brain can’t remember which ones now , just use them, bought from local shop) My rate of migraines decreased rapidly and my eyes felt like they had a cool cloth on them.... I had to wear them, even indoors for at least a year. LOL Jim, None of the antibiotics I'm on cause sun sensitivity, but I've had the photophobia almost since I first got sick. It's gotten worse lately, but that may be due to clarithromycin causing magnesium wasting, and magnesium deficiency (which I already had prior to start of abx treatment) can cause photophobia. Interesting about the oils in our skin being necessary to metabolize Vitamin D. I wonder if anybody has been able to demonstrate that principle of needing to avoid soap for 48 hours. I've heard other numbers: 24 hours, and some sources seem to indicate it's not an issue. It drives me nuts if I can't wash my hair everyday so even if I avoided soap, I'm probably still stripping oils from my body every morning with shampoo rinsing. Hopefully I'm getting SOME Vitamin D at least.

Hi Shauna,

Some abx cause sun sensitivity...

Check those you are taking to see if they are the culprit..

Sunshine is absolutely healthy for us!! We need a daily dose of it..

Now the skin that is exposed to the sun, don't wash with soap!! As

it takes 48 hours for the D3 you get from the sun to soak through

the oils on your skin and enter your body.. If you use soap, all gone

D3!!

Now if you show a bit more skin than you should, nobody here will

tell.. :-)

Take care,

Jim
