Guest guest
I have not heard of Nutriveda. My son has apraxia, too. About a year ago (maybe more), Dr. G approved my son to take DHA (fish oil/omegas). We use EPA-DHA from Metagenics, which is a very high quality pharmaceutical grade. Someone had told me that DHA helps all the cells in the body communicate, so I was really happy when Dr. G approved it. My son had been taking it and I noticed more language and that he was more related to us, but a few months ago, we ran out. It's expensive, around $42/bottle/month and I didn't rush out to buy more. He didn't get it for ~2 weeks and he pretty much stopped talking during that time. Within a few days back on it, his language had resumed. (He has pretty good language after 4.5 years on the protocol). Kristy Nardini TazziniTM Stainless Steel Bottles <http://www.tazzini.com/> http://www.tazzini.com kristy@... (I found it on the Cherub network for apraxia and heard about it from a friend) Our son has severe verbal apraxia and has been with Dr. Goldberg for 2 years. He is making slow and steady progress in most areas. If he could just talk and socialize he would be mainstreamed by now, but the language piece is just too severely delayed. We haven't asked Dr. G his opinion on this but feel certain he will not want us to try this. Has anyone had success with Nutriveda? Or is this just another " cure " for desparate parents like me? Guest guest
Thanks kristi. I have our son on a pharmaceutical grade fish oil as well. Our brand is by pure encapsulations. It has definitely helped with language. How many does your son take daily? Our boy is 45 lbs and we give two daily. When did your son start really talking un prompted? Guest guest
Hi Kristy Thanks for this information, this is great to know. I am hoping we will be allowed to try this one if he is ready. When we last asked Dr G. about fish oils, he mentioned one called Evening Primrose oil which is also a pharmaceutical grade and only using the Omega 6 instead of Omega 3. Has anyone tried Evening Primrose oil? I am curious to see the results of this one. ________________________________ From: Kristy Nardini <knardini@...> Sent: Sat, May 29, 2010 8:01:40 AM Subject: RE: Nutriveda? Guest guest
My son is around 48 pounds and also gets two DHA daily. He started talking around the same time we started the protocol (age 3.5), but only 1-2 words to get something he really wanted. He started talking more as we progressed through the protocol. In the last year or two, he started using multiple sentences and saying things like, “Mom! Look at this!†to show me something, or asking questions like, “Can we go camping on _____?†or “Where is Dad?†Last year, he was able to start telling me one thing he did at school. Yesterday, he told me 3 things, and even commented on some of them. He wrote a story last week about a hike we did the previous weekend. It was 7 sentences, with a picture, and he commented that the waterfall was “ugly†(it was dried up). He is able to communicate MUCH better with our immediate family and certain kids and staff he knows well at school, but he still has difficulty communicating with people he does not know well. He still resorts to echolalia a lot in certain situations. He’s been on the protocol 4.5 years.
