Guest guest
I just came back with my boy (4yo, ASD) from UC Irvine, MAMMAG (Molecular & Mitochondrial Medicine & Genetics) Dept. A genetic counselor there told me there is a parent who has an autistic kid who took him to HBOT, and the boy ended up a vegetable for life. He now goes around speaking about the dangers of HBOT. I have to admit I've never heard of HBOT destroying anyone's brain (before today), and wonder what the circumstances were. And I have no claim either way, just relaying what I heard. Guest guest
My understanding is that can happen with certain Mitochondrial disorders. My son is suspected of having a mito disorder and they want to do a biopsy. I have stayed away from HBOT for this reason. I don't know which kind it is that can have this effect and have been too scared to investigate further....... B. Guest guest
A great deal depends on the concentration, pressure and lenght of time in the HBOT chamber. Anything can be dangerous -- chelation has killed (when performed improperly). redrackem <redrackem@...> wrote: I just came back with my boy (4yo, ASD) from UC Irvine, MAMMAG (Molecular & Mitochondrial Medicine & Genetics) Dept. Guest guest
I did HBOT as part of an implant study . . . I thought I felt better . .. but nothing remarkable. Have you done the spit test? Guest guest
I have an acquaintance who works at a local hospital as a technician for HyperBaric Oxygen Therapy. She said currently this particular hospital is using it for wound healing, such as for people who have diabetes or other conditions where wound healing is not progressing, and she said it's remarkable how well it works for these problems. Guest guest
I often thought about doing hyperbaric, but the cost was too much and insurance would not cover it. If you are in CA, a silicone sister owns a hyperbaric chamber. Near L.A. Lynda At 07:08 PM 4/17/2007, you wrote: >HyperBaric Oxygen Therapy . . . Guest guest
Lynda, FAR infrared pads work really well for diabetic wounds . . . Daughter uses them extensively. Sherry at Ionic Oasis tells me that diabetic patients find that the foot baths help with circulation too. Rogene

Guest guest
The most interesting use was on a near-drowning child (from Oklahoma, if I remember right) The child was nearly brain dead after nearly drowning. His parents left no stone unturned to help him. According to his mother, he was making real progress with HBOT. Another woman had a brown recluse bite that wasn't healing . . . One man, a doctor, was just trying to hang onto life after amputations because of diabetes. . . I saw later that he passed away. They had two types of chambers. One was a single person chamber. The other was a multi-person chamber. I'm thinking 8-10 people. In the large one, you don head gear that deliver high doses of oxygen while the chamber is pressurized down. . . You just sit and breath oxygen for a while, then the chamber is brought back to sea level and you're done. Love, Rogene
Guest guest
Lynda, You'll find a number of pads with an internet search "far infrared therapy pads" They look just like a heating pad . . . but they don't get hot. They are great for inflammed joints and peripheral neuropathy too. Rogene

Guest guest
I have a far infrared knee wrap. And a far infrared quilt. Both from Nikken. I have had them a long time. Guest guest
I'm not familiar with the brand, but they should work . . . It certainly wouldn't hurt to try. Do you have any idea how much they cost? I can't imagine how much a FAR infrared quilt would cost! . . . Most of the therapy pads are somewhat expensive. Guest guest
They've also been used in conjunction with infrared saunas to treat Lyme. I really want a sauna for the neuropathy type pain, I may just finance the thing this year. hugs, Beth
Guest guest
The quilt was VERY expensive. I know the knee wrap helps with joint pain, and I put magnets under it. Guest guest
I used HBOT one year after explant because I was concerned that my memory and brain fog had remained so bad. I was worried about losing all my brain cells and becoming an idiot! Actually my explant was in Feb 1998 and I did 22 sessions of HBOT in May 1999. I am sorry to say that HBOT did not help my brain fog or memory one bit. I still felt the same after those 22 sessions costing me lots of money that I really didn't have to spend. My healing never really was to the point that I could say I felt well until 4 years post explant. That was after doing: Changed diet supplements amalgam removal chelation therapy fasting 7 Day detox diet Master cleanse juicing colonics HBOT sleeping outside (get away from outgassing of home) magnet therapy infrared sauna therapy ozone therapy coffee enemas rebounding Gerson therapy Mannatech products skin brushing jacuzzi(hot) to pool (cold) therapy taking Armour thyroid It just was going to take a long, long time for my healing to come around. I can't think of anything (other than fasting) that brought about relief of any symptom. Fasting removed all joint pain. I am not sure if she still is, but I know she has expanded to two chambers now from one. She is doing very well with her business....she made lemonade out of her lemons for sure.
