Guest guest
Lynda, Do you use the quilt very often? . . . It should be very beneficial for your overall health. Your sister certainly would benefit from using it. She would probably get more noticable results than you would. Rogene
Guest guest
Lea, Some implant women have experienced benefits from HBOT . . . I don't know that it's been "proven" to help though . . . In general, increased oxygen levels helps with overall health . . . When oxygen levels get too low, cells die! When undergoing surgery, oxygen levels are monitored constantly. There are claims that saturating the body with oxygen cures cancer and a host of other diseases . . . At least, compared with drugs, it's can't cause further harm. Guest guest
There was just a pretty interesting discussion about HBOT. You might do a search on the list or in onibasu to see if it answers any of your questions. If you search for " hot spots " the recent string will come up. Guest guest
There is one in Picton Ontario. (Two hours east of Toronto). Search for Ability Camp. They treat Autistic children too and all sorts of other kids. Considering going there soon myself with my two kiddies. They have accomodations while you are treated. A parent can go in with their child so you get the benifit too! Cost is $4000 for the three week session including accomodations. Good luck. Has anybody found success with it? > > Thanks, > Maya Hi Maya, This question about $ is harder to answer than it might seem. I will try to give you some general ballpark figures. One of the things that is difficult to figure is " how many treatments? " Many practitioners recommend 40 treatments as a " series " -- which is expensive-- but than you might do several of this several times. A single treatment in a hard-shell HBOT chamber at a private clinic runs about $100 to $200 in the US. So 40 treatments (a " series " ) would be 4,000 to 8,000. Sometimes there is a discount for ordering many at once, or for paying all at once, or whatever. There are a couple of clinics in North America that are cheaper -- I think the lowest prices were around $40 or $50 a treatment (and this was a couple years ago when I last checked.) The cheapest place to get HBOT treatments is in the UK, where there's a chain of co-op HBOT centers, run by the MS treatment association (or something like that). Buying a soft-sided HBOT chamber is about $10,000 to $20,000. A soft-sided chamber will not go up to as high an amount of pressure as a hard-shell chamber. There is endless controversy, but I wanted to include this in the answer to your money question, as it is clearly an option. If you were to buy a soft-sided chamber you could use it for as many treatments as you want. Does this help? I can probably answer more details if you want. Guest guest
I'm willing to rent out my soft chamber. I live in So. Cal.  It's new, I just purchased it this summer for 21+ thousand. I plan on renting it out when my son is taking a break from it. It's also a good way to get some of our money back. you can email me off list if you are interested.  lie  From: Maggie da Silva <Mgds@...> Subject: [ ] Re: HBOT Date: Monday, November 24, 2008, 5:57 PM We got 40 hard chamber dives for 165/dive. Guest guest
The DAN doctor near us charges $100 a dive/treatment, with a minimum of 40. Can be paid for as $4000 up front or 42000 and $2000. Too expensive for us, unfortunately, as I have a really good feeling about it. I think the stuff I posted, there was a soft chamber for about $7000. Not sure though. Best is to find someone in your area who has bought one and is looking to recoup some money by offering dives much cheaper. Guest guest
Although we have done a couple of dives, we have not yet done a series of 40 dives. My son and I have lyme and we are planning on doing 40 dives at 2.4 ATMs in 100% oxygen in a seacrest 2500 chamber, early next year. I found a place in Breckenridge NJ (I live in NY) that will treat for $75 a dive. I could do this while living at home and continuing with his ABA therapists. However, I just found out that the Rose center in Stroudsberg, PA is offering a holiday special of $50/dive. I heard that you must still buy a hood, so I guess it is not the same chamber I am looking to do. For my son and I to treat together, we want to do the chamber that does not require a hood and is filled with 100% oxygen. Also, Miracle Mountain in NC usually has February and/or March specials for multiplace chambers. I would recommend first deciding exactly what you want to treat by doing HBOT and what protocol you want to do and then looking for a place to do it. If lyme is a possibility, you need to rule that out before diving as the protocol is different and diving at a lower ATM could be detrimental.
