Guest guest
Barbara, Because I cannot fall asleep for hours sometimes & always wake up minimum of 3-4 x a night, most of my mornings feel like they should be nighttime & time to go to sleep rather than get up. I don't know how much is thyroid, adrenal, lyme, etc. The main problems are the hot flashes which force me out of the bed & also hip/thigh/shoulder pain from sleeping on my side too much, but I prefer that position. I do not lay in bed late however, because I am too petrified that it will affect the next night's sleep even more. So I make myself get up & start the day (not later than 8 am, more like 7-7:30.) Sometimes the fatigue wears off, more often than not, I have to sit in the recliner to try & get a nap. I could be dead tired & still not be able to even take a nap during the day. I can't turn off my thoughts. Once in a blue moon however, something odd happens & I still can't figure out what causes it. I'll have a bad night of sleep & still get up normal time & a switch will go off in my body in the opposite direction. I'll have enough energy to do things all day. If I try to take a nap, can't sleep. Then most of the time I'll STILL have trouble falling asleep that night. It's like my body got stuck in overdrive for a day. The only thing I can assume is the Hashimoto's thyroiditis. It is common to have symptoms of both low & high thyroid. Talk about being confused. The other main problem about mornings is that you have to confront another day with all the things you have to do to your body just to keep your head above the water. I was never the kind to pamper & preen myself because I was too busy doing other things, so it's doubly hard for me now because I have to do certain things & not even get much improvement from them. I have found out though that if I say to myself " maybe I'll feel better later " , whether it turns out right or not, it's something to get me through the agony of the morning & hopefully to a better afternoon. Things most of the time do get a little better later in the day, but it's often hard to realize that first thing in the morning. So I guess we have to just keep doing positive self-talk in those crucial early morning hours where thoughts can change the outcome of the whole day. Keep on practicing & know that you are not alone.
