Hi Everyone--I have been asked to pass on some information........Tom and

Dennin, parents to Luke age 4 in South Bend, Indiana have been

taking Luke to Cleveland to see Marcy Freed for e-stim treatments. They

have had very good results---Luke has never eaten anything orally and now is

eating many things (without any aspiration) including Cheerios ( also

drinking liquids) and has asked to eat food in his mouth!! They are very

pleased and excited by their whole experience in Cleveland and wanted me to

pass it along to the list. They wanted to also strongly encourage anyone

who may be interested in e-stim to call them at home . I know

that they will be more than happy to talk to anyone. The number for Marcy

Freed in Cleveland is , she answers her own phone, very easy to

talk to, very happy to talk to parents of kids with CHARGE and will call you

back!! I have learned this through my own experience because I have talked

to her about Rose about 4 times. I have been considering this treatment

for a long time--but we are taking a trip to California (our second trip)

for a month to see an osteopathic dr. there and I have been not wanting to

spend so much time away from home. Anyway, I talked to Marcy again and we

agreed that Rose would have a swallow study done so we could find out

exactly (hopefully) what is happening with her swallow, and also to

determine whether or not she needs e-stim, I have made up my mind that if is

seems that Rose would benefit from estim than we would go, regardless of

spending so much time away. Anyway, to me estim seems like it could help

many children with CHARGE----Marcy has been doing this treatment for quite

some time with adults---I am not sure how long with children----but the FDA

has approved this treatment for children, and she has also had much of her

success with CHARGE children. Also, the treatment is not harmful and it

doesn't hurt! So we will see where this goes.............
