Guest guest
Jill In reality any testing should be restricted to research protocols. If you remember all of the false positives and negative with the early HIV testing it makes no sense to be tested until they have a valid test and an approved treatment protocol. Regardless of the results accurate or not there is not clinically tested treatment, until then why bother. They announced on June 1st that the test will be available in the next 30 days. I am not sure if this will be accurate if one has the live virus and no antibodies to it. I am also curious as to the cost. I hope it is much cheaper. http://www.vipdx.com/ All the best, Jill
Guest guest
I have to know. I know, I know, curiosity is what killed the cat but not knowing is driving me nuts.  All the best,  Jill From: Jill Boyer <sjillboyer@...> Subject: XMRV antibody test " nids " <nids > Date: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 1:27 PM  Just an FYI- VipDx will have an antibody test for XMRV very soon. Guest guest
Jill I understand and regardless of what Dr G and Kathy R believes, there is a very strong argument that this entire disease process could be attributed to an RNA shift caused by a retrovirus. I have no firm data I have seen (Dr G has no evidence that it is not) but if it were true it would be a godsend for so many kids. Talk about a magic pill! or most likely a magic cocktail! Guest guest
Bill,  I have read from Dr. Baraniuk's paper that XMRV inserts in CPG islands. Just last January at the IACC meeting, there was a lecture on methylation in CPG islands in identical twin studies. When you say shift in the RNA, are you referring to certain genes being turned on and other ones being turned off (hyper and hypomethylation)? Forgive me but I am a non-scientist (I was in industrial engineering and took one course in biology 101 in college). I had no friggin idea that I would be researching this 25 years later.  Do you know something about potential treatments? I have a feeling you know something. I know you have connections.  Thank you,  Jill From: Jill Boyer <sjillboyer@...> Subject: XMRV antibody test " nids " <nids > Date: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 1:27 PM Just an FYI- VipDx will have an antibody test for XMRV very soon. Guest guest
Bill I think my husband believes an underlying retrovirus but your sister has convinced him if the immune system worked that virus would not take hold Elyse > > > > From: Jill Boyer <sjillboyer@...> > > Subject: XMRV antibody test > > " nids " <nids > > > Date: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 1:27 PM > > > > > > > > Just an FYI- VipDx will have an antibody test for XMRV very soon.
