Hi I have fired a psychiatrist, but it was in his office. He wasn't too happy about it either. <g> Yet, I think the ER, is a different situation. You have no idea what the 3 other people needed. There could have been a baby with a high fever, or a person from a motor vehicle accident on their way in by ambulance, so he didn't have much time. Yet, I wasn't in your situation at the time. I also don't know how you were feeling, nor what was going on with you at the time. I also don't know how long you had been waiting. About a month ago I was having bad tremors. They are part of having MS, but there is a shot that will stop them. I went to the ER of our local hospital. After waiting about an hour a nurse came out and said " go home and see your dr tomorrow, " so I did. About two weeks later, I got a bill for the ER visit - $1495.00. My pain doc had referred me to him (because he was the only one who would take my crappy insurance) for a spinal cord stimulator implant. He took a microsecond to look at my MRIs and decided my congenital stenosis was the cause of all my pain and insisted that I need a $50K fusion. I told him I knew it wasn't my stenosis, because I had had that my whole life and knew exactly what kind of pain it caused, but that this nightmare began when I herniated two disks - believe me, I know EXACTLY when that happened! - and then got exponentially worse when the neurosurgeon who botched my microdiskectomy accidentally opened up my spinal cord and gave me adhesive arachnoiditis. I informed him that there was no way I would let anyone open me up for a fusion since I already had AA, and especially not for something I knew for a fact wasn't the cause of my pain. Besides which, a neurosurgeon whom I trusted told me not to let anyone touch that stenosis, because it was so extensive that they'd end up taking so much bone out I'd be wheelchair bound permanently before I was 50. He then informed me - get this - that it was the SURGEON'S decision whether or not I would have surgery, not mine!!! Can you even imagine it!?! I told him " My spine, my decision! " and walked out that very moment. I had gone to him for a simple procedure to give me pain relief, and all I got was a greedy jerk who saw an opportunity to get a much more expensive procedure done - my health, excruciating pain levels and future disability be damned. Guess he thought I'd be any easy pushover since I was there by myself. I told my pain doc about it, and he swore he'd never refer to that jerk again. He couldn't even believe the arrogance. He knows me well, and jokingly asked him how bad I had hurt the guy in return for those comments! <gg> Cheryl in AZ
Guest guest
I went for a second opinion to an Orthopedist. I have 3 herniated cervical discs and this guy (who is about 75 years old) told me (44 years old) that I am just old and my body is shot. Just old age he said. This will really help my lawsuit. I had my discs herniated in an accident and this guy tried to tell me that I just needed a little traction and that I would be fine. When he left the room for a minute, I took my records and disappeared. He's probably still looking for me. I have learned that if it sounds like a quack, it's a quack, get out and don't let the door hit you in the you know what. Guest guest
Another thing, I was referred to a Neurologist by my Orthopedist. The Neuro. was so insensitive to my pain. When I went back to my Orthopedist, he told me that when you go to specialists, try to see one of the doctors whose name is at the top of the practice. The doctors are at the bottom for a reason. You see, she was the one who totally missed my brain tumor, I had to suffer three more month's of that before I got the operation I needed. My new Neurosurgeon told me he doesn't like her either,ha,ha,ha,. And asked me who referred her to me. I told him and he called that " former doctor " while I was sitting in the office. It was nice to hear that from a respected Neurosurgeon. I've been trying to get rid of a migraine these last two days. / New York
Guest guest
I hope you fought that one. And also complained to the superior.
