Guest guest
Hi Everybody, I'm new to this forum. Start to read from the beginning of the posts.....learning a lot. I'll appreciate if anybody will share your experience with dose of Valtrex. My son is 15 yrs. and 110 lbs. He has language disorder and CFS. His blood test showed EBV, CMV, Herpes, etc. His doctor prescribed him Valtrex 500mg x2 per day and I feel the dose is too low for his weight. Can anybody share your experience with Valtrex - dose & weight, die-off symptoms and effects. Thank you very much! Lucy
Guest guest
When my son was on valtrex, he was 83 lbs, and got 500mg 3X/day. The die off was immediate: the next day, he was ghastly ill, for about a month. This was our start, 1.5 years ago. He has only gotten healthier, more alert sine then. But, the beginning was the most profound. Can anybody share information about dose of Valtrex? I am new here. My son (110 lbs.)is trying Valtrex. He has EBV, Herpes, CMV, etc. ..... Hope to improve his Auditory processing and Language Disorder. His dr. prescribed 500mg x2 per day. I feel the dose is too low. Please help by posting your dose experiences with die offs and effects. Thank you very much in advance! Lucy

Guest guest
Hi Caroline, Thank you very much for your reply. My son started 500 mg x 3 for 10 days, 750 mg x 3 for 5 days and 1000 mg x3 for 3 days. Today is 19th day. He's been sleeping 16 hrs. for the last few days and today he just got up at 4:00 pm ate something and went back to sleep. I got really scared. I guess I have to let him skip a day and lower the dose afterwards. Since Dr. G. put your son on 4000 mg daily, I guess 3000 mg daily for my son won't do much harm. Really appreciate your post!!! May I know how many days you son has taken Valtrex and what is his reaction? Thank you very much again! Guest guest
Hi Caroline, My earlier mail didn't get posted, I am rewriting. I'd like to thank you very much for your post. My son's dose has been up (from 500 x 2) to 1000 mg x 3. For the past 4 day, he has been sleeping 16 + hrs. a day which really worried me. I was afraid that the dose was too high, but if it's not high enough, it may not kick up the virus. Today is 20th day on Valtrex, I haven't see anything positive, only long hours of sleep. I am very anxious and scared to see any die-offs How is your son doing on 800 mg x5 a day? Have you seen any positives or die-offs? Thank you again for your posting! Guest guest
Hi Caroline, Thank you very much for your post. My son sleeps whole day and night (gets up for 2 meals) at the dose of 1000 mg x3. What is your son's reaction at the dose of 4000 mg a day? How long has he had it? How long Dr. G. wants him to be on? I am very anxious every day...... scared of die-off reactions. How are you feeling? Thanks again! Lucy I posted twice earlier...... don't know why them didn't get posted. > > > My teenage son (105 pounds) is taking 800 mg. 5 times a day (per Dr. G). > > Caroline G. > > > > >
Guest guest
Lucy, Die-off = good! Don't be afraid to supplement with some Ibuprofen to keep him more comfortable and don't expect too much from him, as if he were sick. My daughter had die-off and she came out clearer and so much better than before! - > > > > > > My teenage son (105 pounds) is taking 800 mg. 5 times a day (per Dr. G). > > > > Caroline G. > > > > > > > > > >
