Guest guest
Here is a synopsis: We need help! I have Dr. Goldberg's test of what tests the pediatrician should check, but was referred to somewhere else that doesn't take our insurance. Working on getting another pediatrician and would love to find a pediatric neurologist in the DC area. We have taken, gluten, milk, and sugar out of his diet the last week. Awaiting some medical tests. What is the next step? The doctor won't prescribe a antifungal until some tests are back. What type of antifungal is good? What type of vitamins? Some seem to have overdoses for autism and I don't know how to weed out all this. He is 21 months and weighs 18 pounds. He has not gained ANY weight in 10 months. Is there a protocol with steps to follow? I really need someone who has been helped by Dr. Goldberg to tell me the steps in order as some doctors here have NO IDEA of what I am talking about to have him checked. Please post the steps you have taken in response. THANK YOU!
Guest guest
My daughter also did not gain weight, but she had severe reflux/daily vomiting as a toddler. She was intolerant to corn, plus some other things (grapes and peaches, for example), along with dairy. She does not have an ASD, but her twin brother is a patient of Dr. G. He does not tolerate corn, either, and we also removed soy because soy protein is very similar to casein (bovine protein). An intolerance to corn (which is in EVERY SINGLE commercial infant formula, including the hypo-allergenic kinds) was nearly killing my baby girl. How we determined my daughter's severe intolerances was a very strict elimination diet. Under her doctor's guidance, we gave her lamb and rice ONLY for 3.5 weeks, plus a multivitamin. It was extreme, but it worked. Within 3 days she was devouring a lot more food than she had ever been able to eat previously. We had to be extreme because at 26 months old, she weighed less than 14 pounds and she kept getting respiratory infections and losing weight (the body produces mucous in response to intolerances, and the mucous creates secondary infections, often that require antibiotics). A g-tube had only made things worse. We were very careful to introduce only one new food at a time, and waited up to 4 weeks between introductions to make sure there was not a reaction. I kept a detailed food log during that time. It took 11 months to heal her digestive system, but now she can/does eat a wide variety of foods (I still limit her dairy to non-fat/low-fat and usually yogurt-type cheeses and smoothies). I am very happy to report that she is 8 years old and THRIVING! Kristy Nardini TazziniTM Stainless Steel Bottles <http://www.tazzini.com/> http://www.tazzini.com kristy@...
