Guest guest
Thank you ladies, I was able to find the Unjury at thier website, so I will just stick with that one only. I have read that the Isopuke as you ladies call it, does not taste good at all. > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > Does anyone know where I can get either Myocel, Isopure or Unjury from. Guest guest
The chocolate unjury in skim milk is actually really good. The chicken and unflavored are really good too. The strawberry and vanilla are ok. The unjury is high quality protein and one of the better choices. Guest guest
What is the view on protein powder such as Genestra's pro rice protein powder? My son is extremely thin and is 8 and only weighs 42 lbs. I would like to supplement with protein powder but don't know if he will react to it. What is the opinion of the pro rice protein powder? Thank you.
Guest guest
Up until recently, we have been using an amino acid powder called Essential Amino Acid Mix from Nutricia. This is a clinical food containing the 10 Essential Amino Acids in a casein free/gluten free, easy-to-digest protein base. We had good success with this product as it helped my daughter's speech and also seemed to help her leaky gutt. The problem is that we can no longer afford it as it is outrageously expensive and only lasts for a month once you open the can. Other clinical foods like Splash and Neocate are not options as they contain either high levels of maltodextrin or glucose syrups which make my daughter's yeast levels sky-rocket. We've tried them and they were awful for us. I know about Nutriveda but am loathe to try it as it contains sugar, copper, added folic acid, and minerals made from yeast(??). My question is, is anyone using a protein powder which is as close to SCD legal as possible, low in oxalates, no flavours, colorings etc etc? Pea protein powder is one option I guess, but I've read peas cause excitotoxicity. What about hemp protein? Is there anything else anyone is using without any problems? Thanks Elena

Guest guest
We have had good luck with golden peas. We soak them for 24 hours or so....changing water as needed....can go 48...but it gets pretty stinky...have to change a lot more often. After they are rinsed, rinsed rinsed, we put them in the oven and dry and toast them...then grind them up. Their flavor more resembles peanuts instead of something green or a bean. I also add it to my gf/cf foods. Hemp was a major issue for us..instant almost aggression...within in an hour... As to the excitotoxicity, I would venture, that it could be in the stuff that comes out when it is soaked. The gases that come off them after about 24 hours are pretty noxious and even the earlier ones like within 12 hrs are pretty strong...I know that soaking does remove a lot of things..including lectins and makes them more digestable. hth Ronni ps we couldn't do the golden pea powder from kirkman. But the ones I soak and rinse and toast are fine. > > > > Up until recently, we have been using an amino acid powder called Essential Amino Acid Mix from Nutricia. Guest guest
I did not know Nutricia started making protein poweder. A few years ago when I called them to inquire about buying just the elemental amino acids they did not sell them. They did tell me that I should try calling Jo Mar Labs and that they got many of their aminos from them. So I bought the aminos I wanted directly from them. Jo Mar Labs never said their product expired in a month, so I am curious if that is really true. Jo Mar Labs also seems to have a 21 amino blend which may be a good substitute for what you are using. Check it out. http://www.jomarlabs.com/formulas/pure-form-21-blend-4.html If this one is not good, you could always piece together your own formula. I initially bought several individual aminos, but later started using 3 other blends from Jo Mar: Glutathione Blend, Brainched Chain Amino Acids and GR Blend (which contains the precursors to growth hormone.) You might also look at their mix of 9 essential aminos and use that as a starting point. I used amino acids originally as my son had very high ammonia from lyme die off and could not eat meats. This resolved further along in his lyme treatment. However, he does get high ammonia in his urine now and perhaps I should revisit this approach. Guest guest
Ronni  I never thought of doing this, but will try it as well. I have ordered a couple of amino acid blends from Jo Mar Labs that another listmate suggested, but think that the golden pea blend can be added to things like muffins and smoothies as well, no?  Thank you for this, what a good idea!  Elena --- Στις ΚυÏ., 27/03/11, ο/η ronnimike <HISSPECIALTOUCH@...> ÎγÏαψε: Από: ronnimike <HISSPECIALTOUCH@...> ΘÎμα: [ ] Re: Protein powder Î Ïος: ΗμεÏομηνία: ΚυÏιακή, 27 ΜάÏτιος 2011, 15:41  We have had good luck with golden peas. Guest guest
Ronni  I want to make the golden pea powder, but just realised that I am not quite sure what golden peas are? Are these the same as the  green peas that one can buy frozen in the supermarket? I looked at photos of golden peas on the internet but they seem the same to me as green peas.  Thanks  Elena --- Στις ΚυÏ., 27/03/11, ο/η ronnimike <HISSPECIALTOUCH@...> ÎγÏαψε: Από: ronnimike <HISSPECIALTOUCH@...> ΘÎμα: [ ] Re: Protein powder Î Ïος: ΗμεÏομηνία: ΚυÏιακή, 27 ΜάÏτιος 2011, 15:41  We have had good luck with golden peas. Guest guest
My kiddos are gluten free and sometimes you need some protein to make the flour work correctly....so I use this instead of nuts or seeds, which none of these we can do well with. I have also made a peanut butter sub. So it is very versatile. You can add it anywhere you like just about. What golden peas are is simply yellow split peas. I buy mine in bulk from Azurestandard.com About $10 for 25 lbs. Since money has gotten really tight...this helps.
