Guest guest
So I am just starting to try stephania root for the first time. Has anyone taken this along with rife? It does have an antibacterial effect apparently. I'm making a decoction with pieces of the whole root, so if someone has done that, I'd also love to know. It is supposed to be very good for nerve related symptoms and lyme. I'm starting it to try to help with the neuro symptoms from rife treatment of bartonella, and also to help with my eyes. (I have glaucoma that is not stable at this point.) My main concern is to not cause too much encysting, but I am now a year and a half into coiling Bb and have reduced the load considerably. I'm planning to add gingkgo and bilberry as well, at least a trial run. The gingkgo should help the glaucoma AND help with neuro herx symptoms, hopefully! Guest guest
This is an update to my previous post to explain my progress on Stephania and how it has impacted my coil treatments. Adding stephania (my dosage ended up being 6 g whole root pieces boiled into a decoction, then drinking half in the morning and half in the evening), led to a very strong herx. The herx symptoms were very typical of borrelia herx, and possibly bartonella as there were some nerve components. (This might still be just part of borrelia herx.) The herx was pretty rough for a week or ten days, I kept muscle testing positively to continue taking the stephania otherwise I would have taken a break. Because of the herx, I cut way back on rife for awhile. I typically treat Bb every 5-7 days, and bartonella daily. I had to cut that back and very gradually add it back in. After several weeks I am now back to the regular rife schedule and have actually increased time with less herx. The main effects of stephania as I understand it is that it helps correct some of the immune dysfunction that Bb causes, and helps with inflammation. Apparently the antimicrobial effects are mild. So far, I think this has been a good treatment success for me. I have just increased the herb to 7 g a day of whole herb. I seem to have reached a little higher plateau of health. I am not taking any other killing herbs, and no other supplement changes during this time, so I am sure the effects are related to the stephania. My sense is that by correcting the immune dysfunction, my own immune system has gone after Bb more effectively. I don't think that the stephania is causing encysting like an antibiotic would, but it is true that my Bb herxes to rife are very mild right now. If the August seasonal flare is repressed, then I will start to worry more about encysting. I've not found many posts about stephania use, so decided to post my experience in case it helps someone. BTW, the main side effect is constipation. I use salt/C and with C every couple of hours I did okay. The bloating it caused initially seems to have improved over time. (I buy stephania locally in China at the Chinese medicine shop. It is clearly little pieces of dried plant. The decoction is bitter but not as bad as some.) Guest guest
Marie, my blurred vision comes and goes so it is hard to be definitive but it has been better lately. Brain fog hasn't cleared yet fully but I'm not sure yet if I have reached the full potential of the stephania for that. I've also started gingkgo biloba, and am trying two or three other new things that all could impact brain fog. So I'm not sure I'll be able to know just what the stephania does for that.
