Guest guest
HI! Yes, I have had his hearing tested. It was normal, except for his right ear which was loaded with wax! The ear/nose/throat man cleaned his ear out and he really hasn't had any more problems, to my knowledge. I knew something was amiss because he was turning the TV up so loud and not hearing us. He has not been doing that anymore. But, thanks for the feedback, I will keep it in mind!!! Kerin

Guest guest
Dear Batwing......have you had your sons hearing tested??? It could be related to a mild hearing loss. Worthwhile checking....make sure its a qualified audiologist and NOT a doctor in a closet doing the testing. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Thanks for your advice and comments on my post about ADD/ADHD and my son. If anyone finds anything else out, let me know! I wanted to mention, a little off topic, that our Homeopath who I have had for 8 years and who was the first to get me to question vaccinations, is moving in May to Colorado! I am crushed! If anyone on the list is from Colorado and is looking for a very wonderful Homeopath, e-mail me off list and maybe she will be in close enough proximity for someone to benefit from her wealth of knowledge the my family has! I could give you her name and number. Kerin, Batwing30@...
Guest guest
ADD/ADHD has been linked to vaccines. Basically the vaccines cause an encephalitis that causes brain damage resulting in what is diagnosed as ADD. It appears that there is a range of damage neurologically from vaccines in many, many children ranging from mild irritability, severe irritability, seizures, attention-deficit type disorders, hyperactivity, developmental delays, autism or the most severe -- Death (SIDS and others). By the way, many children have been greatly helped with this by seeing a classical homeopath A book that addresses that treatment of children homeopathically is Ritalin-Free Kids byUllman & Ullman. For more info: DPT: A Shot in the Dark by Coulter & Barbara Loe Fisher addresses this a little. Vaccination, Social Violence & Criminality by Coulter is an excellent book showing the range of damage Hope this helps. I will try and dig up some more info for you! Guest guest
http://www.mercola.com/2000/may/21/ritalin_prozac_adhd.htm Untested Ritalin/Prozac Combination Used by More Children Ritalin and Prozac, as well as various combinations of similar stimulants and antidepressants, are being prescribed together for an increasing number of children. According to a new study, 30% of children taking Prozac or other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), are also taking Ritalin or related drugs, presumably for ADD/ADHD. Additionally, 8% of children taking Ritalin or similar drugs were also taking an SSRI. Most SSRIs are prescribed for disorders such as depression, school phobias, bed wetting and eating disorders. These findings are in addition to the overall trends showing a steep increase in the number of children taking either drug type from 1990 through 1998. As of 1998, 10% of children aged 6 to 14 years were on Ritalin or stimulants and 2% were on SSRIs. Among children aged 1 to 5 years 1% were on Ritalin or stimulants and 0.1% were on SSRIs.. Combined annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies and the American Academy of Pediatrics. COMMENT:It is a sad tragedy that these children are placed not only on Ritalin, but also on the antidepressants. Wellbutrin has been used for some time and now they are using the whole variety of SSRIs. When you only have a hammer, I guess everything looks like a nail. These medicines do seem to provide some benefit, but in no way, shape, or form do they even being to treat the foundational cause of this problem, which is related to an excess of grains, sugars, underground vegetables, and any fluid other than water. This is particularly distressing as the diet changes I recommend works so well. There is not a week that goes by where I don't seem some child with ADHD or autism have a near miraculous improvement from the diet changes. If you are not yet convinced of the dangers of Ritalin I would strongly recommend that you read Dr. Ann Block's book No More Ritalin. Dr. Block is a personal friend and I believe the book is an excellent resource to convince wavering parents.
Guest guest
I was able to get my Son off of Ritalin, by cutting out several things I found him to have allergic reactions that made him hyper: milk was the biggest culpret, also sugar, Red 40( a dye), MSG, anything with sodium nitrates, such as hot dogs, bologna, sausage etc...but it was also important to supplement him with Amino Acids, Omega-3 Oils such as Barlean's Flax Oil (cold pressed) and a powerful anti-oxidant such as pycnogenol which is able to cross the blood/brain barrier. This combination truly changed my Son's behavior dramatically...I was so thankful to be able to take him off of Ritalin! When asked how he felt after the change, he said he felt alot better because he didn't have a thousand things running through his mind at one time! I hope this helps... Guest guest
> Isn't it the Feingold Diet that is supposed to help people with ADHD?? For what it's worth though, I think any food can be a trigger, it just depends on the child. My son only has nasty inlaws who have mentioned ADHD to me (he's just 4-1/2). We suspected allergies as a big problem and after a lot of trial and error, we figured he can't tolerate rice and corn among some other things. A great book is " Is this Your Child? " by Dr. Doris Rapp. She does discuss the Feingold diet, but also helps you figure out if food is your child's problem. If that makes any sense. Anyway, it's definitely worth a read. My son, btw, is still a very active child, without the out of control behaviours he had before. > > ** Original Subject: RE: ADHD > > ** Original Sender: nojabs4us@... > > ** Original Date: 21 May 2000 02:39:50 -0000 > > > ** Original Message follows... > > > > > <html><body> > > <tt> > > I have a friend on another e-group who has a son that has been diagonsed with <BR> > > several things, including ADHD. & nbsp; He is on Ritalin, Valium, etc. & nbsp; He is 12 > <BR> > > years old.<BR> > > <BR> > > I know I have heard several mentions of a certain type of diet helping ADHD <BR> > > children get off Ritalin and improve. & nbsp; If anyone has info on this that I <BR> > > could forward her, i would really appreciate it. <BR> > > <BR> > > Thank you!<BR> > > <BR> > > Teri Knight<BR> > > www.successcycle.com/justin<BR> > > www.ecoquestintl.com<BR> > > Breathe better, work better, live better!<BR> > > </tt> > > > > <hr> > > <!-- |@|begin eGroups banner|@| runid: 4321 crid: 2247 --> > > <a target= " _blank " > href= " 1/4321/7/_/489317/_/958876788/ " ><center> > > <img width= " 468 " height= " 60 " > > border= " 0 " > > alt= " " > > > src= " http://adimg./img/4321/7/_/489317/_/958876788/pr_jacket_468_12k.\ gif " > ></center><center><font color= " black " ></font></center></a> > > >** --------- End Original Message ----------- ** > > > > > Download NeoPlanet at http://www.neoplanet.com > > _____________________________________________ > NetZero - Defenders of the Free World > Click here for FREE Internet Access and Email > http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Free, easy, fun! > Email groups at eGroups > Start one today at > 1/3946/7/_/489317/_/959101356/ > ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Is this really caused by vaccinations too? I have heard so much on this and most of it was on misdiagnosis. I even heard there was not such a thing. I don't know but my nephew was diagnosed with it and I have to tell you....there is no way! I watched him all his life and he was just a boy. Not too hyper, easy to calm down, seemed to be quick to learn. I don't know what was happening in school but it seemed like a farce to me. I finally loaded his parents down with the information that was in ritalin and what it was doing to him and they took him off of it and put him in a private school. Since then, he is doing well. I bet if she homeschooled there she would have never even thought of this. Unfortunately, all of them have been vaccinated. Because of coarse my ideas are too out there for my family. I have many friends with children (all boys) who are vaccinated and on ritalin for ADHD. Is this a true disease and what vaccinations cause this? Please send me any links or information. I am SO interested and want to share the info. Blessings Be Margaret White
Guest guest
I just came across this the other day from a link posted somewhere (was it here?) http://www.resultsproject.net/ Haven't read through the whole thing yet. My brother (now 18) was 'diagnosed' early in school, by like 3rd grade or so... ADD not ADHD... he took Ritalin through most of school and ended up in an " alternative " school for problem kids (acting up too much, basically... This school had isolation rooms they'd put the kids in, nothing but four concrete walls and a door.. I think my brother was just doing stuff just to be doing it, not really having a 'problem'...) My sister (almost 12) was 'diagnosed' ADHD, I think a lot earlier than my brother because my parents had already gone through so much with him and saw 'signs' with her. I think she's on Ritalin but I'm not sure. She had many many ear infections as a baby (she was also babysat/daycared while my brother and I were not) and ended up with tubes in her ears. Last time I talked to my mother she had an appointment with my sister's teachers... she was misbehaving, not taking her books to class, crawling on the floor and making animal sounds... She seems very very immature, not sure if that's because she's the " baby " and never has to do anything for anyone even herself, or what the problem is. My husband has a sister one month younger and these two girls are WORLDS apart. I have no idea where this " ADD/ADHD " stuff comes from, or whether my brother and sister actually have it. My brother also had other medications, for depression and stuff I guess. I was never medicated like them, in fact I graduated from a regular high school with an " honors " diploma (and never ever did any homework... lol..). One thing that I kind of wonder about... I had to get an MMR shot to go to college.. Before that, my mother would say I was " disgustingly healthy " ... very rarely got sick (I had strep throat and pneumonia the same year in elementary school, I think real close to each other... and of course the occasional cold... not sure what else.. I also caught the mumps as a baby..) After that shot it seemed like I got the flu every year at least once. Haven't had the flu for a full year now (about to turn 25) but I'm also pregnant and wonder if that has anything to do with it. My son has been partially vaccinated (up to 12mo, he's over 2 now..) and he's had 2 colds and 1 flu. New baby will not be vaccinated. Probably went off on a tangent there, hope that link is helpful.. I thought the " positives of ADD " link was interesting, that was the page I read first. -Merry > > Is this really caused by vaccinations too? I am SO >interested and want to share the info. > >Blessings Be > Margaret White Here's how I see it Margaret. The reactions to a vaccine can have a whole range from the vaccine-induced encephalitis - the varying degrees of the encephalitis range from: 1. irritability/crying 2. intractable crying 3. seizures 4. hyperactivity 5. ADD/ADHD 6. autism 7. death (SIDS & other) And anything else in between - its because of the inflammation of their little brains. http://www.trufax.org/vaccine/ The Mechanism of Encephalitic Damage from Vaccines One of the keys to understanding what is happening is to understand that the myelin sheath, the fatty protective coating around the nerves, spreads through the nervous system in developmental stages. The myelin sheath, in some nerves, does not even begin to grow until the child is at least eight months old. In fact, the growth of the insulating sheath proceeds at different rates in different areas in the nervous system for the first 15 years of life. In some areas, growth of myelin continues until the mid 40’s. What does this mean? When cultural vaccination programs initiate neurotoxic processes in early childhood, it severely affects the development of the nervous system by impacting growth of the nervous system. This immortal fact is being deliberately ignored, and maintenance of ignorance on the part of the population is the only reason they are getting away with this. Myelination processes begin in the phylogenetically older parts of the brain, such as the brain stem, and then moves to the areas of the nervous system that have developed recently in humans. Obviously, the cerebral hemispheres and the cerebral cortex are the last to be protected. The sheath is necessary for the development of the nerves, so when the cultural vaccination programs inject harmful toxins into a newborn infant or children, the myelination process is interrupted to one degree or another and MBD (minimum brain damage) occurs. In 1947, Isaac Karlin suggested that stuttering was caused by “delay in the myelinization of the cortical areas in the brain concerned with speech.” In 1988, research by Dietrich and others using MRI imaging of the brains of infants and children from four days old to 36 months of age have found that those who were developmentally delayed had immature patterns of myelination. It has also been found that impairment of these processes can alter neural communication without necessarily causing severe CNS damage. So, these facts have been satisfactorily proven by science, but ignored and suppressed by mainstream medical establishment. Babies and children pay the price, and society pays the price when these individuals grow up and begin to exhibit aberrant behavior, affecting social structure, increasing crime and necessitating more authoritarian social control mechanisms. We can see that the assocition between post-encephalitic syndrome and either demyelination or incomplete myelination of the brain is pretty straight forward. In might be mentioned at this point that polio, or poliomyelitis, involves a breakdown of the myelin shealth, which causes paralysis. We also know that encephalitis, whether caused through disease or as a result of vaccination, can cause demyelination of the nerves, and that this has been known since the 1920’s. SInce the developmental neurobiology of the human brain has not changed, but the AMA statement has, we can only conclude that they are deliberately and knowingly perpetrating brain damage on the population. If so, why? For the answer to that, consult more of the menu choices on the main vaccine page. The exact role of the allergic reaction in encephalitis was not completely understood until about 1935, with the discovery by Rivers of the phenomenon known as “experimental allergic encephalomyelitis,” or (EAE). Up until 1935, it was assumed that encephalitis was caused by some viral or bacterial infection of the nervous system, and a search began in the 1920’s for some organism that might cause the problem. Rivers was able to produce brain inflammation in laboratory monkeys by injecting them repeatedly with extracts of sterile normal rabbit brain and spinal cord material, and this made it quite apparent that encephalitis was an allergic reaction. This explains the association of allergies and autoimmune states with prior cases of encephalitis. In 1922, the smallpox vaccination program caused an outbreak of encephalitis, with a secondary result of Guillain-Barre Syndrome, an ascending paralysis ending in death. For some reason, the fact that the vaccinations were directly connected was hidden from the public until 1942. In 1953 it was realized that some of the epidemic children’s seases, > measles in particular, were demonstrating an increased propensity to attack the central nervous system. This indicated a growing allergic reaction in the population to both the diseases and the vaccinations for the diseases. In 1978, British researcher Bannister observed that the demyelinating diseases were getting more serious “because of some abnormal process of sensitization of the nervous system.” I submit that the process of increased sensitivity was a normal occurance - it could only be seen as abnormal if the connection between the vaccines and the sensitization process, which by then should have been obvious with the research conducted, was deliberately ignored. The fact of the matter is that it is a matter of record that it was known that vaccinations produced encephalitis since 1926. The sensitization of the population was being enhanced by vaccination programs. Someone had to know, since the connection was a matter of record. ******************* My response... The encephalitis we are talking about here is NOT an infection from a virus or bacteria, but INFLAMMATION of the BRAIN due to allergic reaction - that is what encephalitis means. Measles, the disease, can induce encephalitis. MMR the vaccine can induce encephalitis. What is the risk/benefit ratio here? Are we causing more encephalitis with the vaccine than we are at risk for with the disease. With the disease they estimate 1:1000 will develop encephalitis. If children are having encephalitis from the vaccine at a greater rate than 1 per 1000 then there we are not doing ourselves any favors. Excerpts from two articles regarding MMR/Encephalitis: The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) March 26, 1973 Vol. 223 , No. 13 , pages 1459-1462 Neurological Disorders Following Live Measles-Virus Vaccination Philip J. Landigan, MD, J. Witte, MD From 1963 through 1971, eighty-four cases of nuerological disorders with onset less than 30 days after live measles-virus vaccination were reported in the United States. Thirteen could be adquately accounted for by causes other than vaccine, and another 11 were uncomplicated febrile convulsions probably related to vaccination. One case met diagnostic criteria for subacute sclerosing panencephalitis. The remaining 59 showed clinical features of encephalitis or encephalopathy. Causes of these cases could not be established, but 45 (76%) had onset between 6 and 15 days after vaccination; this clustering suggests that some may have been caused by vaccine. From 1963 through 1971, 50.9 million doses of measles vaccine were distributed , and , therefore, incidence of the reported neurological disorders was 1.16 per million doses. Risk of encephalitis following measles infection is one per thousand cases. The Lancet, September 17, 1983, pages 683-684, lin White Measles Vaccine Associated Encephalitis in Canada Sir-Dr Berlin (June 18, p 1380) notes that the true frequency of convulsions after measles vaccine has not been yet determined, and asks for studies of the temporal association between vaccination and convulsions to offset a possible negative impact on this aspect of childhood immunisation programmes. The underlying concern appears to be that convulsions may indicate encephalitis, which could result in brain damage. *************** Pediatrics 1998 Mar;101(3 Pt 1):383-387 Acute encephalopathy followed by permanent brain injury or death associated with further attenuated measles vaccines: a review of claims submitted to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. Weibel RE, Caserta V, Benor DE, G Division of Vaccine Injury Compensation, National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, Health Resources and Services Administration, Public Health Service, Rockville, land 20857, USA. OBJECTIVE: To determine if there is evidence for a causal relationship between acute encephalopathy followed by permanent brain injury or death associated with the administration of further attenuated measles vaccines (Attenuvax or Lirugen, Hoechst n Roussel, Kansas City, MO), mumps vaccine (Mumpsvax, Merck and Co, Inc, West Point, PA), or rubella vaccines (Meruvax or Meruvax II, Merck and Co, Inc, West Point, PA), combined measles and rubella vaccine (M-R-Vax or M-R-Vax II, Merck and Co, Inc, West Point, PA), or combined measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine (M-M-R or M-M-R II, Merck and Co, Inc, West Point, PA), the lead author reviewed claims submitted to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. METHODS: The medical records of children who met the inclusion criteria of receiving the first dose of these vaccines between 1970 and 1993 and who developed such an encephalopathy with no determined cause within 15 days were identified and analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 48 children, ages 10 to 49 months, met the inclusion criteria after receiving measles vaccine, alone or in combination. Eight children died, and the remainder had mental regression and retardation, chronic seizures, motor and sensory deficits, and movement disorders. The onset of neurologic signs or symptoms occurred with a nonrandom, statistically significant distribution of cases on days 8 and 9. No cases were identified after the administration of monovalent mumps or rubella vaccine. CONCLUSIONS: This clustering suggests that a causal relationship between measles vaccine and encephalopathy may exist as a rare complication of measles immunization. MMR & Encephalitis Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) Vaccine as a Potential Cause of Encephalitis (Brain Inflammation) in Children MARCH 9, 1998 ISSUE #39B by Harold E. Buttram, MD Townsend Letters Dec. 1997 Childhood autism is the result of encephalitis affecting primarily the limbic system of the brain, located below the cerebral cortex. A relatively few number of cases are due to genetic causes, but officially the great majority are of unknown causes. Bernard Rimland, PhD, founding director of the Autism Research Institute, estimates that there are now a minimum of 250,000 autistic children in America, a 10 to 15-fold increase in the past 50 or so years. Dr. Rimland, internationally recognized as a leading expert in the field of autism, has publically stated that he believes current childhood vaccine programs are one of the major causes for the current epidemic of autism.1 The US Committee on Children, Youth, and Families has estimated there are now 7.5 million American children with developmental delay compared with 4.8 million in 1991. Of these, 30% are thought to be autistic or have autistic tendencies .2 It is true that statistics are subject to question, but the real scope of the problem can be gained by talking with veteran elementary school teachers, and I have talked with many of them. Without exception in my experience, they emphatically confirm that there has been a dramatic and widespread increase among school children in learning and behavioral disorders attention deficit and hyperactivity, and children requiring special education. These changes appear most notable since the 1970’s. Dawbarns Law Firm of England has published a paper in which they report on over 600 instances of side effects following the MMR and MR vaccines, which were introduced in England in 1988.3 These include 202 cases of autism, 97 of epilepsy, 40 with hearing and vision problems, and 41 with 100 behavioral and learning problems, the latter in older children. Although British health officials deny a relationship of these conditions with the vaccines, Dawbarns has accounts of over 200 parents who believe that their children were normal before they were vaccinated, and who can point to nothing (other than the vaccine) which could account for the deterioration in their children’s conditions. The Physician’s Desk Reference, in its section on the MMR vaccine, states that complications from MMR, such as encephalitis and optic neuritis, occur “very rarely.” This is the conventional view, sincerely held by a majority of doctors, but where does the truth lie? Could it be that adverse consequences to MMR vaccine are occurring on a larger scale than officially recognized? Hypothetical model for MMR vaccine as a cause of encephalitis Nerve cells of the brain function by conducting nerve impulses, Much like electrical wiring, these cells require insulation to function normally. This insulation is provided by myelin sheaths, made up largely of fatty material. For the most part myelination of nerve cells of the brain does not commence until after birth. Most is laid down during the first 5 years of normal development. It is now generally thought that the process of encephalitis, whether from wild viruses of live-virus vaccines, is associated with an interference with the myelination process brought about by the development of antibodies against myelin basic protein, a constituent of the myelin sheaths .4 In theory there are several mechanisms whereby the MMR vaccine could have increased potency to induce harmful autoantibodies (antibodies which attack the body’s own tissues and organs, including the myelin sheathes), once injected into the human system. First and perhaps foremost, MMR is incubated in chick embryo culture medium, which necessarily includes precursors of all the organ systems of the chick, including myelin basic protein. Merck Pharmaceuticals, which produces MMR vaccine, claims that all traces of the chick embryo are removed before the vaccine is released for use. This may be true, but it is probably irrelevant as it does not take into account the process of mobile genetic elements, more commonly referred to as “jumping genes.” Viruses being made up entirely of genetic material, they are highly susceptible to this process. It has been shown that viruses are genetically changed by accepting genetic material from cell cultures. The genetic imprint of the chick myelin basic protein, which is foreign to the human system because of its chick origin, may be programmed to induce antibodies against human myelin basic protein, once injected into the human system. This in turn, potentially resulting in encephalitis. The second theoretical reason is that the MMR vaccine is injected by needle directly into the system. This differs, from the natural infections which are “cushioned” or buffered by the mucosal immune system (Secretary IgA) of the respiratory tract. By passing this mucosal immune system, the injection may carry greater potency for harmful autoantibody formation. Third, measles virus carries protein similar to those found in myelin sheaths 6 so that antibodies induced by the measles vaccine may cross-react harmfully with myelin. Carrying this line of thought further, in 1993 Vijendra Singh, PhD University of Illinois, published a study in which they found antibodies to myelin basic protein in 50 to 60% of autistic children tested.4 Recently at a public meeting Dr. Singh presented information on an unpublished, preliminary study of 27 autistic children in which he found nearly 50% correlation between MMR antibodies and antibodies to myelin basic protein in serum drawn from the children.7 Dr. Singh emphasized that this study was very preliminary and that no conclusions could be drawn from it. However, it does raise a higher index of suspicion that the MMR vaccine may result in encephalitis and its various complications on a fairly large scale. Once again, this leads us to question whether or not many vaccine reactions are passing unrecognized and therefore unreported by the US medical community. Reasons for under-reporting of adverse vaccine reactions in the USA As reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1990, there is a general malaise among American physicians in reporting adverse drug (and vaccine) reactions;.8 ,9 Based on this report, the present voluntary reporting system appears to have resulted in very low levels of adverse reaction reports. The original screening studies for measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine were limited to short periods of time such as 6 weeks observation for adverse affects. This limited time did not take into account the possibility of delayed reactions, which may outnumber those occurring within the 6 or so week period. In the case of cancer, we know there may be periods of years between the original body insult and onset of cancer. In the case of the vaccines, it is possible that slow and subclinical process of encephalitis may be initiated which may not manifest until much later an therefore remain unrecognized as having been caused by the MMR vaccine. It is possible that MMR vaccine reactions are now occurring on a much larger scale than they did in the original screening studies, because many children today are second generation vaccinees; that is, they are born mothers previously vaccinated with MMR. The mothers having been vaccinated with genetically contaminated MMR, as previous described, the children may have heightened susceptibility to adverse reactions when rechallenged with the vaccine.10 Further confirmation of this concept is found in a recent report from Japan where it was demonstrated that live virus from measles vaccine do persist in mononuclear cells of the body in children with autoimmune hepatitis.16 Doctors, having been conditioned by the rarity of adverse reactions in the original screening studies, are generally inclined to dismiss these reactions as due to other causes. The decline of childhood diseases before vaccination There is a generally held concept that mass vaccine programs were largely responsible for control of former epidemic diseases, but with the probable exception of the polio vaccine, in most instances this was not the case. From 1911 to 1935 the 4 leading causes of death among those aged 1 to 14 years, covered by Metropolitan Life Insurance policies, were diphtheria, measles, scarlet fever and whooping cough.11 However, by 1945 the combined rates from these 4 diseases had declined by 95%, before mass vaccine program began in the United States .12 By far the greatest factors in the decline were better housing with less crowded conditions, better nutrition, and other public health, hygienic, and medical measures. Discussion The conventional view is that adverse vaccine reactions are relatively uncommon. At variance with this are internationally recognized authorities such as Dr. Bernard Rimland. Also at variance are many parents whose children have developed medical complications following vaccines where no other cause was evident. Time may prove that one of the basic flaws in American childhood vaccine programs is that it is increasingly compulsory and mandatory. Once considered the fountainhead of freedom, in the enforcement of vaccine programs, America has become one of the most stringent and arbitrary of all nations. Parents refusing to have their children vaccinated, often for religious reasons, are subject to charges of child abuse. Public health officials contend that such compulsory measures are necessary for control of infectious diseases which, they maintain, would increase along with childhood death rates if the vaccine mandates were lifted. In my opinion, this argument does not bear up to scrutiny for the following reasons: In 1979 Sweden banned the pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine, considering it both ineffective and dangerous. In spite of the banning, or perhaps because of it, Sweden maintains one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world. In 1975 Japan raised the age of pertussis vaccine to 2 years of age, considering it dangerous in infancy. Since that time, sudden infant death syndrome (cot deaths) have largely disappeared in Japan.13 Other nations with either voluntary vaccine programs, such as England, or less stringently enforced programs have lower infant mortality rates than the US. With few exceptions, they have not had a return of deadly epidemics (with high mortality). One researcher has estimated that, in the case of autism, it may take 15 years to reach the standards of scientific proof that MMR vaccine is causing autism in a large portion of children with the condition. Can we afford to wait 15 years? For sake of argument, let us assume that scientific proof is eventually gained that MMR is causatively related to a significant portion of children with autism and developmental delay. If we continue to enforce vaccine programs as at present, one shudders to think what the future generations will think and write about us. Mistakes might be forgiven, but not the enforcement of these mistakes. If such does prove to be the case, we can rest assured that they will be neither kind nor charitable in their judgments of us. Conclusion As previously mentioned, time may prove that vaccine programs went awry when they deviated from the most basic of traditional medical ethics: the right of a patient to choose or reject medical therapy, or the right of parents to accept or reject medical procedures such as vaccines for their children. The right of free choice provides a system for checks and balances now lacking. As a result, present vaccine programs are going to extremes and are possibly causing more disease than they are preventing. The remedy? Parents should be allowed the right of free choice to accept or reject vaccines for their children. Addendum Of related interest to the subject of MMR vaccine as a potential cause of encephalitis is the report of Dr. Sudhir Gupta and coworkers in which they found marked abnormalities of the immune systems of autistic children.10 Could the MMR vaccine have been a contributing factor for these abnormalities? In 1991 there was a report of significantly higher child mortality following high-tittered measles vaccines compared with standard measles vaccines among children in Senegal.14 Subsequently a study was undertaken to assess immune responses to the high tittered vaccines.15 The results showed suppression in lymphoproliferation; that is, suppression in lymphocyte production (lymphocytes are a class of white blood cells which play a major role in governing the immune system). In the above study report it was stated, “the effect of measles immunization on immune responses in infants has not been systematically studied.” The study was valuable but it tested only two strains of high red measles vaccines, not the standard vaccine. As a result we do know that the high-tittered vaccine does cause immune disturbances, but we do not know the effects of the standard measles vaccine, studies not having been done. If such studies are not already in progress, let us hope that they soon will be. Correspondence: Harold E. Buttram, MD 5724 Clymer Road Quakertown, Pennsylvania 18951 USA 215-536-1890 References 1. Guest guest
sue, yeah, interesting...isn't it, they don't link adhd with vaccines. just as one example, our son was diagnosed as being adhd, and i NEVER drank any alcohol, smoked (never have), nothing. i ate a very healthy diet, did all the right things. i know and have spoken with quite a few moms with so-called adhd kids and none of them, to my knowledge, were irresponsible (drinking alcohol, smoking) during their pregnancies, either. sometimes, i think it's best not to read this stuff, it makes me too crazy.... kim ADHD > But what about *vaccines*? > > Sue >
Guest guest
Not that I am recommending drinking and smoking during pregnancy, but when my mother was pregnant, they actually told her not to stop smoking because it helped her keep her weight down (!) and that it would be too stressful for her. My siblings and I were all of low birth weight, but I too do not remember ANYONE with behavior problems in class. (I was born in 1950.) ADHD Well, I told my kids that if they have problems it's because I drank and smoked while pregnant. I can tell you that the majority of women drank and smoked while pregnant. After the babies were born they also didn't get the amount of vaccines that they are given today. I can't remember any kids in my children's classes that had ADHD problems. Guest guest
I think " ADHD " is just another name for poor parenting in many cases. Perfect example, a " friend " just left here with her 3 year old son. First of all he didn't want to get out of their vehicle to come in, so she bribed him with a " chip " to get him to come in. Then when they were in he kept hitting her and she again bribed him with a " chip " to get him to stop. Earlier she had left a message on my answering machine saying they were sitting in their van in their driveway because her son " wouldn't let " her go in the house until he was finished watching a video on their tv in the van. I wouldn't be surprised if this kid gets labeled with ADHD when he gets to school because he's never been made to do anything against his wishes without getting a bribe first! Ahhh! Makes me want to scream! Where did these new parenting techniques come from??? My husband is a special ed. teacher at a high school. His students are the " behavior disorder " kids. There are a zillion of them!! What is wrong with this picture???? Kay I too do not remember ANYONE with behavior problems in class. (I was born in 1950.) Guest guest
I would say what is wrong is vaccine damage in some cases. We see these types of things and they are CURED with homeopathy. Yes there is bad parenting. But there are also children who you can't do a thing with - we are seeing mroe and more of them. For example Lycopodium is a remedy useful in symptom pictures that include children that are bullies to those younger, hit parents, stubborn and control the whole family. I would say look to damage - not necessarily permanent, but a disorder of the vital force (what we call the energy system in homeopathy. Guest guest
Yes, I'm sure the vaccines are an added ingredient, but this particular child I mentioned, he behaves for others (his father for example). And it's not even so much that he's misbehaving or throwing tantrums or anything, he just knows he can make his mom jump through hoops, and so he does. Even a 3 year old can figure out that if he does what he wants long enough, even if mom disagrees, he may get a treat out of it in the end! I think these days too many parents want their children to be their " buddies " and are afraid to upset them (I've heard them say as much). Instead of dealing with normal childish testing and boundary pushing, some parents don't want to do anything to upset the child. Another example, my husband's niece's son has been on ritalin since he was 2. He has had 4 different fathers in his 6 years of life, the most recent one beat his mother. He has seen alot in his lifetime. His mother claims he is very bad (and tells him so). The boy spent alot of time with my mother in law (who said she never had any trouble with him). So, my point is, there are many parents out there who don't want to take the time to do proper discipline and would rather medicate their child and label them a problem child. I know there are legitimate cases of ADHD and behavior problems, caused in big part by vaccines and the junk diet of today's children. I'm in no way minimizing the needs of those children and the great frustration they cause their families. : ) Kay I would say what is wrong is vaccine damage in some cases. Guest guest
Thanks so much for this response Sheri. You would have to live with a child like this 24/7, to know this child has a problem. I agree there are some bad parents out there, but I really think that percentage is not as high as some think. > I would say what is wrong is vaccine damage in some cases. > We see these types of things and they are CURED with homeopathy. Guest guest
just had to put my .02 worth in here re: adhd. i've done a lot of research on this topic, as our son was in the past diagnosed as adhd by a psychiatrist, and deemed perfectly normal by a psychologist, both of whom were highly recommended as experts in adhd. there are also those professionals who don't even believe adhd exists. i've gone both ways on this one. i've now come full circle and feel that there's SOMETHING wrong with these kids, and given that most of these kids fit certain diagnostic criteria, i'd say it's vaccine damage, imho. so called adhd seems to run in my family. my sister's older boy was diagnosed with it, and now i'm hearing that they're seeing signs in their youngest daughter, who is six years old. i have a cousin who is close to my age (42) who was diagnosed with it years ago. i also have a first cousin who has one son, our son's age (8) who school officials thought could possibly be adhd. do i think that WE'RE all BAD parents? of course not! that's absurd. folks, it's NOT bad parenting! you've got psychologists that think it's bad parenting, bad teachers, etc. i don't have all the answers, but i can tell you that jeff and i feel we've been good parents, and i know my cousin is a fantastic dad and his wife's a marvelous mother. i really feel because of all the differing opinions regarding adhd issues, that the reason behind these troubled kids isn't getting the attention it deserves. i do not for one minute feel putting schedule II drugs down kids' throats is the answer. i'm totally against using ritalin or any other drug for kids that have these issues. on the other hand, we've seen that putting our son into a private montessori school has done wonders for him. he was failing miserably in the first grade in our public school system, and is now getting very good marks. he's never been a behavior problem, as even his public school teachers were quick to point out. i truly recoiled putting him on ritalin when he was in public school, but i retreated under extreme pressure from the school principal and his teacher. to my horror, the third day ryan was on the stuff, he had a complete manic episode. i'd known in my heart ritalin was not the answer for him as i'd kept the stuff in my cupboard for three weeks before i'd give it to him. just to show you what a quack the psychiatrist was that " diagnosed " ryan; this same quack diagnosed moi as being adhd!!! now, i'm 42 years old and he wanted to put ME on ritalin, get this...for the rest of my life!!!!! (oh, let's not EVEN go there....) let's just say that i'm a former professional, now stay at home mom, and this physician/quack doesn't even know i was duping him to see what sort of " diagnosis " he'd give me. he failed, miserably. there's a bill in california that is now dead, but two different bills are trying to " resurrect " this issue regarding meds for kids. i'd like to be able to testify before our state legislature about our experience with our school system and this physician, and i'm in the process of finding out how to go about doing that. i'd have to go down to sacramento to testify, but that's fine with me. i'd like to see this physician (dr. michal levin of san ramon) run out of town, but i doubt that will happen. i firmly believe that the issue of adhd is rooted in vaccine damage, period. in fact, i know in my heart it is. unfortunately because of the politics and the money trails, what these poor kids NEED is NOT what they're getting, because their issues are embroiled in the whole vaccine issues saga. i really do get upset when i hear people blame adhd kids on the parents. it's so wrong. but what you don't understand is, these kids are so much MORE than your average kid in every respect...it's so hard to explain...but you do find yourself giving in to them because you just can't take any more. our son wasn't even as difficult as some; but he had extreme meltdowns and temper tantrums that would literally go on for hours; we finally found a bach flower remedy (rescue remedy, great stuff) and we took him to see randall neustadter, which really really helped. it was NOT bad parenting, but it was a kid so vaccine damaged, it altered his behavior in ways we couldn't understand. okay, i'm off my bandwagon for now. i'm sorry, but this is a touchy subject for me. and don't even mention CHADD to me; those people disgust me. i'm gearing up to start my own vaccine awareness group out here. i've been opening up more and more to people i meet, when the time is right, about vaccines, and to my surprise, so many parents are asking me questions and are really open to hearing more about vaccine damage. so if those of you that live in the Bay Area know of someone who has issues in this area and who might like to join a vaccine awareness support group, please tell them about me. i've already checked out a name; which hopefully, it will be the BAY AREA VACCINE AWARENESS GROUP. thanks. kim Re: ADHD > I think " ADHD " is just another name for poor parenting in many cases. >
Guest guest
I definitely believe ADHD exhists and never for a moment would I blame true ADHD on parents. What I did say was " in many cases " kids are labeled ADHD when that is not the case. I have 2 children that haven't always done what I expected them to do, threw a few tantrums in their days, acted out when they were angry or frustrated. This is called being a normal child. If I wanted to label them ADHD because they get angry, can't sit still or whatever, that would be wrong. They have to be taught acceptable behavior. If no one teaches them, how will they learn. Is this the case in all children? Of course not. There are many who have legitimate problems and need other interventions (no vaccinations being a good place to start!) There are many who have parents who are at the end of their rope trying to do the right thing for their children, and it just doesn't seem to make a difference. I understand that and wouldn't for a moment mean to step on their toes. I'm not calling anyone a " bad parent. " Goodness knows I am not the perfect parent. : ) Kay there are also those professionals who don't even believe adhd exists. i've gone both ways on this one. i've now come full circle and feel that there's SOMETHING wrong with these kids, and given that most of these kids fit certain diagnostic criteria, i'd say it's vaccine damage, imho. do i think that WE'RE all BAD parents? of course not! that's absurd. folks, it's NOT bad parenting! you've got psychologists that think it's bad parenting, bad teachers, etc. i don't have all the answers, but i can tell you that jeff and i feel we've been good parents, and i know my cousin is a fantastic dad and his wife's a marvelous mother. i really feel because of all the differing opinions regarding adhd issues, that the reason behind these troubled kids isn't getting the attention it deserves. i really do get upset when i hear people blame adhd kids on the parents. it's so wrong. but what you don't understand is, these kids are so much MORE than your average kid in every respect...it's so hard to explain...but you do find yourself giving in to them because you just can't take any more. our son wasn't even as difficult as some; but he had extreme meltdowns and temper tantrums that would literally go on for hours; we finally found a bach flower remedy (rescue remedy, great stuff) and we took him to see randall neustadter, which really really helped. it was NOT bad parenting, but it was a kid so vaccine damaged, it altered his behavior in ways we couldn't understand. kim > I think " ADHD " is just another name for poor parenting in many cases. >
Guest guest
but how would YOU know about the labeling and/or the diagnosing of certain adhd kids? that's my point, you've no idea what those kids you're speaking of that have perhaps received a diagnosis of adhd really have it or not! how could you? even those professionals who deem themselves experts in the field of adhd don't get it right. look, kids don't even get diagnosed unless they meet certain criteria through a qualified professional. this diagnosis, believe it or not, isn't that easy to come by. it's quite a lengthy process vis a vis an enormous amount of testing; psychological testing through the school, academic testing and meetings between school officials and parents. then there's the professional consultation and diagnosis; i.e., more testing, etc. it's really a very complicated process. so i'm afraid i still don't know what you're basing your " opinion, " on. are you saying you've been around kids that have been diagnosed as being adhd and it's YOUR opinion they're not? if that's the case, i've gotta tell you, i think you're more than likely judging the kid and his/her parents unfairly. i mean, in all honesty, how would YOU know, unless you're also an expert; Ph.D., MD, psychiatrist, what. sheri's absolutely right. the parents of these kids get judged unfairly, especially if you happen to come across an " episode " of some sort, see it happen at the tail end, and assume you know what's exactly going on. you have to live with these kids to know what i mean. the emotional stress is so draining dealing with these kids. our son was " different " from the day we brought him home. the nurses caring for me after our son was born told me that of all the 26 babies born that day, our son was the only one that wouldn't sleep. they even asked us if we had full time help for him when we went home (we did not). ryan was " different " from the very beginning. unfortunately, he also had the hep b shot shortly after birth; that's why my hunch this is vaccine damage. as much as i absolutely adored my son, it was sheer hell for the first three years of his life. i practiced attachment parenting, the family bed, you name it, we tried it. it was only until we discovered randall neustatdter that some of ryan's problems were solved and he still has certain mild issues, nothing major, though, at this point (at least, i don't think so). so if you didn't mean to imply that poor parenting with some or a lot of kids with adhd is the cause, it didn't sound like it to me (sorry).... kim Re: ADHD > I definitely believe ADHD exhists and never for a moment would I blame true ADHD on parents. Guest guest
Oh, no! I'm sorry you misunderstood what I was saying. I don't believe >any< child with ADHD is that way due to poor parenting. That would be too easy of an answer. : ) Kay so if you didn't mean to imply that poor parenting with some or a lot of kids with adhd is the cause, it didn't sound like it to me (sorry).... kim
