Guest guest
> What would you say to him? Why would people be insulted to think their son > would/could be cured? Hi Kristi, There's a whole movement of people -- consisting mostly of adults with Asperger's, but they do have some parents of autistic children among their ranks -- out there who are trying to change the societal paradigm from " autism " having a negative connotation, to autism being some sort of evolutional progression and something, therefore, to welcome and celebrate. There are websites like " Celebrate Autism " and " Oops Wrong Planet. " They are dogmatic, infuriating and impossible to talk to. Sometimes they use " internet guerrilla " tactics like spamming groups like this one in an effort to get them to disband. We had someone like that come onto this list a few years ago. I don't know if he was banned or just eventually gave up. In any event, these people are simply a lost cause. As for the gentleman you are corresponding with, I've done a lot of trial and error over the years, and now my approach is always to first acknowledge the *genetic* component by saying something like " Yes, absolutely, (autism, asthma, allergies, etc.) is genetic, because all *autoimmune conditions* (never, ever say *disease*) are genetic. " I never use words like " cure " and " recover " anymore, because they automatically put some people on the defensive. Instead, I describe my son's recovery by using the word " RELIEF. " I say that medical treatment gave my son *RELIEF* from his symptoms like sleeplessness, stomach pain, tantrums, screaming, auditory sensitivity, visual tracking, etc. and that once he had " relief, " the autistic-like behaviors " resolved " or " disappeared " and he could focus and learn. Parents respond to " relief " because they know their child is suffering, whether it is from pain, anxiety, or the frustration of not being to communicate, and because THEY are suffering along with their children. Hope that helps. Guest guest
I have come across this issue of parents who are offended at the idea of a cure or even autistic adults who are offended. There seems to be a movement, not just in the " autistic " community, but the special needs community overall, that " disabled " is an offensive term and they prefer " differently abled " , which in my apparently offensive opinion just in not an accurate description of that community. That they don't want to be people who aren't able to do certain things, I can sympathize. But to just deny that they are unable doesn't actually help anyone. My son isn't differently able to make friends, he is just not able, or at least it takes a lot more effort on his part. He must overcome difficulties that others don't and it's not fair, but it is real. Before we can tackle those difficulties, we must identify them. This new trend of denial can only harm. It will not help public relations for those with special needs because the community in general is not going to look at a tantruming 10 year old and think that they are " differently able " . They just aren't going to buy this. Sorry to those this offends, but I guess I view the world in " black and white " moreso than others do. As for this guy's arguement that " autism " is genetic, I would remind him that cancer and diabetes are too, but that those with cancer and diabetes (just as his asthmatic kids) seek treatment. People with cancer can be " cured " . They are searching for a " cure " for diabetes. There may be a " cure " out there for " autism " and there is some promising treatments out there that would support this as well as testimonies from those formerly diagnosed with " autism " that appear to have made a full recovery. If this guy is truly interested as he says, it would be really great to get help for his son. My regards to everyone on this wonderful list, April On Sun, Aug 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM, Kristy Nardini <knardini@...>wrote: > > > Hi! > > Hope you are all having a great weekend. Guest guest
My opinion is you can mask the symptoms a little with pharmaceuticals for life or you can resolve the cause and the symptoms disappear for good. My son is 14 and I have been admin for Special Needs Community Calendar for 12 years. I can count on one hand the number of " cured " kids I have seen in that time. Remarkably I have seen a small % of kids who recover spontaneously without any interventions at all. I am happy for any child/family who recovers regardless of what recovers them. However I have seen many improve and even lose ASD Dx using high vitamin A protocol to REVERSE the MMR reactions and Dr Cutler chelation to safely REVERSE the MERCURY, ALUMINUM and other toxic vaccine ingredients that our kids can't handle. And it's relatively cheap. The body takes over and healing ensues. My son missed one day of school in the past 2 years - however in elementary school was so sick all the time, they sent a teacher to our house. My son reacted to MMR with almost week long triple digit temperatures and was never the same, losing skills almost daily from that point. Then I discovered vaccines contained over 250x's toxic waste level of Mercury. Some have been reduced to " trace " amounts of mercury which is only 3x's toxic waste level now. (that's what they call MERCURY FREE - read the inserts) You would have to be 275 lbs to be within EPA " safe " levels for MERCURY FREE vaccines. They have added a lot more Aluminum which is synergistic with Mercury, making it significantly more toxic at much lower levels. MMR has no mercury, but under certain conditions crosses blood brain barrier, enters spinal fluid, cerebral fluid and intestines. Probably due to unnatural method of exposure that circumvents our bodies natural defense mechanisms. Adding TYLENOL exacerbates the problem on a mitochondrial level. Most chelation, esp IV is exceptionally dangerous IMHO. Diet is critical and should be #1 priority. FWIW - I believe McCarthy is right. My child is recovering. Straight A's at grade level consistently. Improving eye contact. Answers questions in real time. Makes and understands jokes. Developed empathy. Remarkable hand eye coordination. Hard for me to disagree with results I have seen consistently. I should mentioned I watched for years before trying to insure we would not cause more harm. The early you start, the faster they recover. BTW, thank you to the surprising number of people who wrote off list in response to my prior comments. Sorry I have not responded to all yet, but I will catch up. YMMV > > Hi! > > Hope you are all having a great weekend. Guest guest
Not sure who you are because you don't sign your name which makes me doubt you are even telling the truth, but our kids with autism are very sick. I know many kids who have recovered and improved on with meds and they don't need them forever. Do you have exact statistics of how many kids have been helped with your protocol? I am glad that this stuff worked for your child but we did all of that alternative stuff and it made my child worse. My daughter is happy and healthy, playing with other children, talking to me, telling me she loves me, asking me questions finally, thanks to what her doctor did for her. I am not an expert at what you do but I would never dare to go on your list and put people down for what they are choosing to do for their child. - > > > > Hi! > > > > Hope you are all having a great weekend. Guest guest
Hi and group, First let me apologize to anyone who felt I was putting anyone down for trying or any other protocol. We are all on the same team against Autism or whatever anyone wants to call the presentation of symptoms generally referred to as Autism, and I totally respect everyone's efforts. I also agree that what helped my son is not the panacea for all kids, but it appears to he highly effective for those who experienced vaccine reactions, which is our situation. I believe some reactions for some kids stem from the Hep B at birth which contained 25 mcg of Thimerosal (mercury) before the blood brain barrier is formed, making it appear the child was damaged at birth. Not all autism is caused by vaccine mercury I'm sure, but there are numerous other exposures to mercury aside from vaccines. Plus vaccines contain significant amounts of other toxins such as aluminum, antifreeze, formaldehyde, lead, cadmium, foreign DNA from monkey kidneys, chicken embryos/egg, calf serum, aborted human fetal tissue, pig blood, horse blood, sheep blood, rabbit brain and more (see www.vacinfo.org) They took mercury antiseptics off the market years ago (mercurachrome etc - the orange/red staining stuff moms stuck on cuts in the 60's) Plus took mercury out of animal vaccines years earlier, but left it in human vaccines. Well over toxic waste levels - the vast majority of flu vaccines that expired this year had to be disposed of as TOXIC WASTE in HAZMAT facility. Does that sound like something we should inject in our babies? Does it sound healthy? Am I the only one SHOCKED by this knowledge? NO! There are thousands who agree. I am merely expressing my experience, which includes several years with Dr G. Obviously there are some who are experiencing positive results, but I am not familiar with more than a handful, and am not certain even they have been able to jettison all Rx meds. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Years ago I volunteered for BOARD and was able to offer Dr G a full grant at no cost to him to get all the money he needed for , plus access to a number of celebrities, many who have children with autism. He refused. I continued to investigate the long term use of the drugs he prescribes and the combinations he uses. It became clear that some of the monthly or bi monthly blood tests were to check on liver and other vital organs that are susceptible to severe damage from these drugs. Some had never been tested in kids and most combinations had never been tested in kids. That combined with our lack of progress led us to other options. My guy had severely reacted to the MMR vaccine which started his regression. Foreign countries do not give the MMR, opting instead for cod liver oil, high in Vit A when they contract the disease which goes away in a few days. There is a very safe 48 hr high Vitamin A protocol that kills the measles virus in the cerebral & spinal fluid, along with the gut. My son had significantly improved eye contact, cognition and was making and understanding jokes within a week. And it costs less than $20 Chelation was recommended numerous times but we were scared to make things worse, which I saw happen. Most forms of chelation are dangerous, even deadly. But one protocol developed by Dr Cutler showed promise and little downside. You are right in that I don't have absolute statistics on the success rate, but if you Google and research, you will find at least hundreds who have successfully chelated with major improvements and numerous loss of autism diagnosis. www.GenerationRescue.org has a lot of good information about recoveries. They also did a survey that showed unvaccinated populations have virtually ZERO autism. My son is verbal and tells us how much clearer his head is and how much better he feels. He did not start speaking until age 7, is now 14 and tells us stories from age 4. It is remarkable that he was taking EVERYTHING in but could not get it back out. Cutler Chelation is not a quick fix in that it normally takes 2 years to complete. Fortunately, it is also a relatively cheap protocol - a full year is way less than one Dr G office visit for us. The most common downside is yeast which is easily controlled with GSE & Biotin for us. As chelation progresses, this stops and supplements are no longer required. Plus kids are able to eat anything they desire with no adverse effects. I share on this list for those who are not getting desired results from protocol and may desire alternatives. Congratulations to those who are experiencing recovery, not merely masking the symptoms, and get off drugs with a full recovery. Remember Drs were taught to prescribe Heroin, Cocaine, Cigarettes, Thalidomide and more at medical schools. Now we see that as insane. The only studies that say mercury is safe are paid for by drug manufactures, exactly as Tobacco industry funded cigarette studies swearing they were safe. Today we know better. Just approach the situation with an open mind and apply logic. My son missed so much elementary school, they sent teachers to our house. Last year he got almost all straight A's and has only missed one day of school in the past 2 years. He snowboards, plays tennis, ping pong, basketball, volleyball and more. I should mention the GFCF diet was the first thing we did that pulled our son out of his nose dive. He currently eats a little of both with enzymes and does great. I have nothing but love for all of our unfortunate kids and their families and wish them all the best for a happy and healthy life. All of my posts represent my opinions and experience after more than 12 years of extensive daily research - YMMV. > > > > > > Hi! > > > > > > Hope you are all having a great weekend. Guest guest
Hello am new to the group! At birth our daughter had normal response but had delayed milestones. She reacted (at 15 months of age) To the MMR vaccine and had meningitis within 15 days of the vaccine. That was the turning point due to which she Had epilepsy and the ensuing anti epileptic drugs ruined her metabolism. Now she is ten years old and still is on valproate and clobazam! Which don't help at all! controlling the diet has helped ! we live in India and have Not met up with any of the doctors and have no clue of how to go about it! She cannot walk yet and has limited speech. She also has temper trantrums. Any directions and guidance will greatly benifit us! Guest guest
Hi - I wrote a follow up and tried to answer some of these questions and ask more of my own, but my post has not appeared yet. Hopefully it is just awaiting moderator review and has not been rejected. One part was an apology to anyone who may have been offended by my opinions. We are all on the same team, trying to heal our kids who are innocent victims. Sticking our heads in the sand to avoid some of the tough questions (which I don't claim to have all the answers) does not help move us to a solution. Talking about it will. It is not responsible to blindly accept *ANY* protocol without questioning the potential dangers and efficacy. ALL protocols have them. Maybe we will find clues to help our kids more effectively, or improve the protocol. Perhaps avoid pitfalls. I would LOVE nothing more than for to be the silver bullet. That's why we tried it but found it was not effective for us. I outlined the our experience and hope everyone on the list will be allowed to read about it. Based on the volume and nature of direct emails I received from my initial post, we are not alone. Perhaps some of the group members who wrote offline and expressed interest in hearing more will ask the moderators to post my message. Sweeping poo under the rug may remove it from sight, but it still stinks. Let's bring all the pro's and con's into the light and discuss them all. Is there a reason our experience and observations are being suppressed? Please address them and prove me wrong. Now we have something that is working fantastically, curing OUR problem (yours may be different) Isn't CURE what we all want? Maybe discussions can help us figure out which kids will respond to and which will not? I am happy some of you are finding to be your solution. Perhaps though discussions - talking about symptoms, etc., we can figure out which kids are best helped by which protocols. I'll be the first to declare there are no cure-all panacea's for all these kids and what's working for ours won't necessarily work for yours and vice versa Peace, Love and Healing to all > > > > > > Hi! > > > > > > Hope you are all having a great weekend.
