My husband and I are trying to determine if we want to abandon DAN protocol

which has been helping our son to go see Dr. Goldberg. We have not tried

antiviral therapy yet, but that is on tap for our next visit with our DAN. Can

you tell us how quickly we can expect to see some initial results. Like I said,

DAN has been effective for us to this point and yet we still would like to

explore this option if its not going to take more than say 3-6 months to give us

a clue that this is what is going on with our son. Thanks for any and all

feedback on . Thanks.

  • 3 weeks later...

With us we saw results for our five year old within a week. Six months later he

is doing excellent in a regular kindergarten and got an award for the most

improved on his swim team.

My son is 21 in college and recovered. We have been Dr G's patient for 16

years and would love to send more information on how Dr. G repaired our

son's immune system. Just email me privately if you would like me to

forward the information.

My son, , was diagnosed when he was four years old. The leading

authority on autism said he would never be okay and would probably end up in

a group home. Today does all the things the professionals said could

never happen. He studies mechanical engineering at a university on a merit

scholarship. excels academically and is a member of the Engineering

Honor Society (top 10% GPA). He is a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and

was president of the Jewish Student Association. Now is your typical

college student who drinks an occasional beer, goes on dates, stays out too

late with friends and then sleeps through eight o'clock classes. I couldn't

be more proud.

I never thought these things were possible when he was little. Unbelievable

as it seems, this is the same child who wanted to spend his days plugging in

a portable radio into every outlet in the house over and over again. Dr

Goldberg helped my son medically, but there is another piece that is

necessary for children to recover. Behavioral and educational interventions

must happen and these kids need to be taught everything they missed while

they were ill.

After Dr. G addressed the problems with 's immune system, it was

possible for him to learn. The younger you start, the less you have to

teach them. For us, it took years to correct 's deficits in speech and

social skills. It was almost like taking a stroke victim and bringing them

back. This process is definitely not for sissies or parents looking for

that magic cure.

That being said, there were times I wasn't sure if I had the strength to be

more stubborn than my son. There were mornings I didn't want to get out

of bed just to face another day filled with autism. The worst times were

when I wasn't sure I was doing the right thing or if the medical

interventions were working. But Dr. G knows what he is doing medically. I

just didn't know that back then.

It is hard to tell if your child is getting better when they have language

deficits? It takes three years for a " normal " child to speak and understand

English. Sometimes I didn't have a direction or a plan and I was just

hanging on by my fingernails. But, at the end of the day, what choice do we

have. Let our kids drift off forever into their own worlds, or drag them

kicking and screaming into ours. is living proof that our kids can get

better and lead productive happy lives. We must continue to be more

stubborn than they are and never give up on them no matter how hard they try

to make us.

Best,

Marcia
