Brigitte Mars told us about it in class when I was in herbal school. I figured " what the heck " and gave it a try and danged if it didn't show immediate results! During a discussion of heroic method (conventional " modern " medicine is usually heroic method, whereas herbal/homeopathic is more gentle) and the chemical colon cleanses they give you before colonoscopy, she mentioned this was the most gentle method and great for regular use. So, I gave it a try and indeed, lost 5 lb during the 10 days. Although I did pass MUCH more fecal matter and had movements about 4-5 times a day, it wasn't the painful, cramping, tearing out your insides feeling of the chemical purges they give you (which I went through once and hated.) There was not a lot of " extra " stuff that some people have claimed after the more powerful colon cleanses, which perhaps explains why she refered to it as the most gentle method several times. Also, it was quite easy and normal - just....more. I will try and dig out my notes from that class and see if there was anything else said about the mechanics of the process of lemon juice in this case. I just cleaned the still room last night and actually know exactly where my notebooks from class are! Good timing. It was an " herbal night " - very soothing to the soul to make medicines, is it not? Made my Anywhere Lotion, made #3 salve and stocked up the barn first aid kit with fresh tinctures - when I cleaned cabinets I found some tinctures in the back that have been " stewing " for a year! Those should be nice and potent <rofl>. So even though my arms are sore after pressing out a gallon of arnica (can't have too much arnica when you have horses!) and quarts of echinacea, goldenseal, mullien, alfalfa and osha, I have that happy glow of accomplishment. Made my cold/flu oxymel, too. One more good all dayer on the weekend to make more Salve and I'm set for winter! Tonight I'm gel capping Hawthorne and Milk Thistle. Then setting up the downstairs for Halloween! :-) I'll get back to you on the lemon juice thing, ! Don, I wrote a full answer to your questions yesterday and it seems to have died in cyberspace - will write again today when I can!
