Guest guest
, have you tried Zithromax? My son did a 30-day course of zithromax, 2 weeks later was raging again and we're on another 10-day course before we do the " maintenance " higher weekly doses (500mg weekly). I am hoping this works and have heard from some other parents on these lists its has worked for their child for PANDAS/strep. Also, I've heard Olive Leaf Extract (OLE) works well. I'm not even ready to try that b/c of my son's severe phenol sensitivity. More xtreme steps I think are IVIG and Plasma Exhange. There's a great group about panadas at latitude.com I think -- google it and you'll probably find it. On it, they mention a few drs who specialize in PANDAS, like Dr. Latimer in Baltimor MD> I'm going to e-mail her this week to learn more about what she does in case our current course of action only takes us so far. Wishing you the best! Guest guest
adrenal and thyroid gland dysfunction for us. My son was very aggressive and hyper but has calmed down considerably since we started addressing these issues. We use Drenatrophin PMG and Iodemere by Standard Process. Also, give him Min Chex and Calcium (powder), magnesium mixed in a small amount of juice which is also very calming. If he doesn't like what I tell him he tries to kick or scratch me. Did you add or increase supplements? EFAs did this to my son until I gave them with mito cocktail. Yeast overgrowth was also a cause of aggression here. Many times bad bacteria can cause aggression. Too much of a few supplements also caused this problem. Guest guest
What does Dr G recommend for aggression? Sometimes my son will atttack me ......pull my hair or bite......this started once we started the anti virals. Will the SSRI's help with those behaviors. We have not yet started an SSRI yet. Guest guest
It sounds like die off. How long has he been on antivirals? We had that as well and the lashing out had to do with him felling very bad. We gave my son motrin and it made him feel somewhat better. The SSRI will help him keep under control but we had to teach Connor to control his anger and give him other outlets when he got angry. A punching bag helped but just taking him out and burning off excess energy is still a must. Guest guest
Soy and corn are huge issues for my daughter. If she gets any form of these things she is one wild child! Sheri From: <thecolemans4@...> Subject: Re: Aggression Date: Tuesday, August 24, 2010, 3:17 AM  Hey , It sounds like the timing points to the antivirals, but sometimes it ends up being something else. Is there blue dye? How long has he been on them? The thing that causes aggression in my son is soy proteins, especially soy lecithen (soy bean oil is fine - no proteins). Sometimes people have switched over to soy near the time they start antivirals. Kids can take 2+ weeks to start showing reactions to soy and then it takes about 5 days for the aggression to ease up after stopping it. I hope you find a trigger that you can remove. If it' antivirals, the benefits outweigh the problem and could actually be a psychological reaction to becoming more aware. Also antivirals can kick up yeast if you're not on the antifungals yet, and sensory problems can certainly add acting out too. And yes, SSRIs might help. For some, the road gets rough on SSRIs, but some do well.
