We have recently found a probiotic supplement called VSL #3

_http://www.vsl3.com/_ (http://www.vsl3.com/) that has made a huge difference

with this

problem for my son and a little girl I work with who had major, ongoing

constipation problems. I'm not sure what Dr. Goldberg would think about using

this since he's very particular about which probiotic supplements to use

but it appears to meet his criteria of being a pure probiotic supplement with

nothing that " boosts " the immune system.

My son only had 1--2 BM per week in the past a few weeks. Today is 4th day

he

tried very hard and many times but got nothing.

Please share if any way can help!

Thank you in advance,

Xiao

We have been there for 6 terrible months! We have tried oxy powder, magnesium

citrate, miralax, pedialax, and all lax stuff, and nothing!

Our son is a hard case! We just found relief with VSL#3 with mineral oil to make

the exit smoother. He was going once ever 6 days, and we needed to enema about

2x a month due to fever/pain. He now is going AT LEAST every other day, if not

once a day!

Vsl#3 is a medical food probiotic, and you can order on line, or even order at

your costco pharmacist. No rx needed.

That's what helped us.

Best to you!

We have used oxypowder but have found that getting the dose right to make a

long-term difference without negative symptoms is very difficult. Smaller

doses don't keep things moving for him, more pills (2-3/day) are waaayyyy

too effective to the point of being uncomfortable or causing leakage. It's

also just a laxative (magnesium based) while the VSL rebuilds good

bacteria in the gut. Neither were recommended to us by Dr. Goldberg though so

I

don't know if he'd be comfortable including them in a protocol.

Unfortunately, Dr. G wasn't able to offer a solution that helped my son's

severe

constipation problems that started after he began the protocol. While

he's remained on the meds through a local doctor, we've strayed a bit to

help the constipation issue and have found that a combo of alternating one

and two oxypowder caps a day and two VSL caps keep him regular and feeling

much better.
