Guest guest
Hi Denisha, We are in San Diego, too! My experience has been that the social skills groups in our area fall short in a big way for helping my son make friends. I used to see a lot about one playgroup that was held at local parks, but I have not seen much lately about them, so I'm not sure if they are still around. We did not participate because it was pricey. I think the Crimson Center might have some info on it. My son is lucky to have a twin sister that he plays really well with. I've also found some of his classmates that we both like and we have playdates with them. Making cookies or muffins together, swimming, riding bikes and visiting Legoland together are all big hits. He also does the Adventure Guides camping trips through the YMCA with my husband (they also have them for moms & sons). Do you help him to be regulated for a playdate? That is, do you help him to get into a state where he is not so lively, active & silly before a playdate? Maybe an OT can help you with some ideas? And, do you have him on a special diet for kids on the spectrum? Kristy Nardini TazziniTM Stainless Steel Bottles <http://www.tazzini.com/> http://www.tazzini.com kristy@... HI My name is Denisha and I am looking for kids groups that will enable my 6 year old to make new friends. We live in san diego ca. and he is really struggling having hardly any kid friends that are like him. He is very lively, active!!! and many times silly which is what I think hurts him the most in making friends. If anyone knows of a group or if anyone in this area has a child with similar characteristics please shoot me a message/email ...
