Guest guest
We had an interesting experience on our last phone consult. We were on the phone for 30 minutes and Dr. G's office charged us for 1 and half phone consults ($278 instead of $185). Has this happened to anyone else? We've been with Dr. G for 5 years and this has never happened before. Is this a new thing or did we have a confused office staffer? Marcia, you are so lucky to live close! The phone consult costs are tough on us as I'm sure they are on everyone. On 7/30/10 9:33 AM, and Marcia Hinds wrote: > > , > > You are right Dr. G does charge for phone consults. Guest guest
Thank you Marcia... and agreed! Im SO thankful Dr. G will do phone consults at all. He is taking a risk to treat our kids long-distance. His fees are NOTHING compared to the DAN docs we saw. > > , > > You are right Dr. G does charge for phone consults. Guest guest
To keep this in context Stan Kurtz is an untrained advocate sharing his experiences with a limited number of kid.s. Dr G and others have spent a decade or more in formal schooling, have seen thousands of kids and have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to acquire a verifiable and accredited expertize, not to mention a board certified Doctor of pediatric medicine, Others like Stan and the SCIA are running on limited knowledge, two demensional experience and no medical nor science back round. If you are an advocate - advocate. Doctors treat kids. In California the malpractice insurance alone has run off most proactive docs. In Florida I can not even get a gen practice doc to write an antiviral prescription without CDC support because of the liability! I guess you should not pay your dentist either. If you want to complain do it to you orthodontist. > > , > > You are right Dr. G does charge for phone consults. Those are not covered > by medical insurance. Guest guest
I agree with all the comments regarding Dr G and his grounded medical background , his fees are likely a reflection of experience built on several years worth of work which places him in high demand with parents looking for viable solutions, I wonder how he keeps track of the sheer volume he works with! However I feel this lady asked a simple question which seems to have got lost in translation which is 'are the fees I paid reasonable and in line with other's experience for the same service' and my suggestion would be to revert to his office manager and ask the question because I don't think it has been answered here. Marcia, If you are referring to Dr. Kartzinel, (the one she wrote her latest book with), I must tell you that Dr. Kartzinel did several phone consults for no charge at all for me and my son. I think we had at least five. This was several years ago. We started with him in Florida, and followed his practice to Texas. I never brought my son in, but gave a full medical history including past labs. Dr. Kartzinel ordered more labs and interrpereted the results. Each call was 50 minutes long and was paid for by a grant through his practice. It was not difficult to obtain. My son qualified because I was a low income single parent. Dr. Kartzinel spoke to me about securing funding so we could fly in for a proper office visit, but I did not follow up. We were doing so many things at the time. I know that it sounds fishy, to not see your doctor in person, but he truly took the time to review my son's medical history and labs. When we spoke, he asked questions that no other doctor conceived of, and he really listened to my answers. Of all the DANS we saw, Kartzinel had the best idea of who my son was and what his medical problems were in part because his own son, one year younger than mine had such a similar history. I paid for the labs he ordered and prescriptions (not done at his practice), but his nurse/office manager was able to get my insurance to cover some of those expenses too. None of these doctors have all the answers yet, and some of them are taking advantage. My experience with Dr. Katzinel is he is definately one of the good guys. I so wish he could be our regular doctor. Did anyone see him on " the Doctors " with McCarthy? I believe it is on You Tube. I also like Dr. Goldberg's insistance on seeing patients in person, I do think that is important. There are a lot of good guys out there fighting the fight for us. Dr. Wakefield? Dr. Singh? Just had to let you know how Dr. Kartzinel took care of us. Jen
