Possible glandular fever....high rbc and protein in urine

HI group

Just a little update on my current situation! I've only been a member of

this group for two weeks, and since then I've been fine untill two days ago!

Luckily I've heard a lot of comforting news in that time, so am not too

worried by my current events.

It seems I have glandular fever, although it has seemed that I've had it

twice in the past, and it never turns out to be. This time is the worst

I've been though, with puffy glands, and sore throat, yada yada yada. Its a

pain in the neck (excuse the pun) as every time I get something like this my

urine goes from almost clear (the usual colour) to really dark brown. Its

pretty grim, but I would describe as being thicker, and cloudy. Its almost

as bad as the time I had a kidney infection last year, but not quite that

dark.

I've been to the doctors two days running now, and they are being really

good with me. Nothing I've taken has helped my throat at all, suggesting

its viral, not bacterial. I was told to take Ibuprofen, or Nurofen to help

the symptoms, and it does help me sleep, but I've been told today, after

some blood tests to stop taking it. The urine sample showed high rbc, and

high protein. The bloods they took today, showed high crp I think the lady

said, I assumed at the time that meant creatine, and don't really know what

that means, any hints here would be good! (thanks!) Blood pressure today

was not low, but not high either, it was infact the same values as the first

time I had my blood pressure taken at Univesity (where I am now, but two

years on from registering)

I can't eat anything solid, as my throat is rore, so am eating soup just to

give me some strength (I am lazy by nature, so I feel ok being ill and

lazy!). Other than that, I'm drinking lots of fluids, and taking it easy.

I don't know what the outcome of all this will be. Probably nothing, the

only thing that has alarmed me was the nurse today who spoke with a doctor

telling me to stop taking ibuprofen and nurofen incase my kidneys were

starting to go! I'm hoping that isn't what she meant, although I accept it

as a plausable posibility!

Any advice on things I should be doing, things to look out for, all that

gubbins, would be of great interest and good reading right now! I've missed

so many lectures these last two days I have no notes to read through!

Anything vaguely scientific or biology related is good enough!

Best wishes to you all, and thanks for your time!

Ps, the other slightly daunting thing today was talk of taking out my

tonsils. I've read a lot about this the past few days from people in the

group, and I guess regardless of it helping with the Iga, I guess it would

be beneficial to someone getting tonsilitis a lot, or other throat

infections? I am 20 now though, and its just the pain of it that scares me.

I have a friend who was 19 when she had her tonsils removed, and she said it

was pretty unpleasant. Reassuring advice on this front would be great too!

Thanks bunches!
