I am having the thought that my mind is biased toward negative thoughts; therefore I am unable to act on positive thoughts. I am having the thought that only people who are biased toward positive thoughts can take action in their lives. I am having the thought that there is no possibility for a new direction in my life. Thanks, mind!" You can't control the content of your thoughts. You can do one small thing today toward something you value. It is only in DOING that possibilities exist for living a valued life, for shaping a desired direction for your life. No amount of thinking, helpful or unhelpful, can do that. Even though some thoughts can be helpful, they are useless without action. If helpful thoughts arise, great. Act on them. If unhelpful thoughts arise, great. Don't act on them. Don't have any values? That's another story from your mind. "I am having the thought that I don't have any values. Thanks, mind." If you haven't put your values into words yet, you may want to work on that. Just about everyone has values around living healthy and connection with others. You could start there. Just start. Take a walk, do some push-ups, read something interesting, watch a funny movie, make plans to meet a friend, buy yourself something cool, organize a closet, donate old clothing to charity, ask someone out for a date (even if it is your spouse or partner), rescue a kitty or doggie, help someone carry their groceries - the possibilities are endless! No one thing is too small to do. Just some random ideas ... hope they are helpful.
