Guest guest
Good advice, Stan. One rarely encounters spam on this list, but this seems to be changing. As you advise, don't click on the link!Regards,Detlef> >> > http://bogdan_nowak.fm.interia.pl/604278.html> >>
Guest guest
Yahoo determines that the posting is from a member. If actual spam comes deliberately from a memberthey are barred from the list. That has happened about once a year.It is rare because the joining process strips out software spiders from joining -- only real humans make it and that is too much time for a real spammer. When a virus infects a member's computer that is a different matter. It would crush the flow of the list to have a moderator approve each post -- it would insert days in between each comment. Your protection isgood and up to date virus protection (or a Mac ... 99% of the viruses are Windows based),and real care. A message like the one below screams " virus. " It is a bare link; no context appropriate text to explain what it is and whyit is important to this specific list; it contains a file, not just an address; weird and unknown URL address; etcThe sender is irrelevant -- if your mother sends you a link like this do not click on itwithout checking with her first to make sure it is legit. I once received a spam message for shall we say an enhancement product ... from whom? Well supposedly from Dr. -- Me!. My email address and name had been farmed from an internet cafe computer I used once in Francewhen my hotel internet went down. For 2-3 years it was used to spam people world wide from an overseas computer. " Dr. recommends ... " Arg.I once got an email from a guy asking me to stop sending him spam.I have to explain I was as much a victim as he was and had no control over it -S I accidentally clicked a link like this at work a few years ago and spent three days cleaning up the mess it made on my PC. Does this listserve have a moderator that can stop dubious and possibly dangerous links like this? Guest guest
I never click a link without description, and unless the description is related to what is discussed.Yahoo does have problems with spam. I have occasionally been signed up to strange groups which I reported to Yahoo administrators. That have not happened recently so perhaps they have stopped it. Guest guest
when you say 'yahoo determines it was sent by a member' does that mean somone got into 's account and sent them? Guest guest
Correct, but the " someone " was likelya bit of code downloaded onto hismachine- S when you say 'yahoo determines it was sent by a member' does that mean somone got into 's account and sent them? Guest guest
According to my records, dating back to January 2010, Gosnell hasn't made a legitimate post to the list since about September 2011, so the hypothesis that his computer's been hijacked or subjected to some other malfeasance seems appropriate. As ever, ignore spam and don't click on any links therein. For the record, a look at the message source indicates the origin of the message sent to Yahoo was from an ISP in Brazil.Regards,Detlef> > >> > > Yahoo determines that the posting is from a member.> >> > > >>
