Guest guest
Oh yikes, Maia. I used to belong to a (now-defunct) online social networking site (kind of a proto-facebook without the cat pictures). On a board where very few people were in recovery or much interested in the subject, Maia became a well-known thorn in everyone's side for her ability to derail every completely unrelated discussion with narcissistic tales of her own unique recovery journey. I see she's still at it. Sorry -- here's the link:http://www.salon.com/2012/08/28/do_12_step_programs_lead_to_cults/ Regards,Detlef >> Interesting article in Salon. Guest guest
Jim,A bit puzzled..it's been a while since I've looked at her work, but I remember thinking Maia as a recovering person herself had an important and compassionate story to tell about some alternative ways to help/view addicts.I didn't get she was "narcissistic" (and that label is really weird to me altogether).terry To: ACT_for_the_Public Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2012 9:03 AM Subject: Re: Re: Recent discussions on 12-step programs Oh yikes, Maia. Guest guest
You may be right. I could be letting the bad impression I got from her behavior online influence my judgement of her work.
