For those on the list that have not been following the XMRV controversy let me

fill in a bit.

XMRV is the third known human retrovirus. Like HIV it is implicated in creating

an immune dysfunction in certain prostrate cancers and in CFS. It has been found

in Autism in early studies at WPI Reno Nevada.Ongoing studies are now underway

in many locations.

Many clinicians believe that the XMRV virus may well be the triggering mechanism

behind CSF and possible at least a subgroup in Autism defined by immune

dysfunction ( kids)

After the initial publication of the CSF study from the WPI there were several

studies that refuted the results, primarily out of Europe. These were though to

be flawed studies because they did not use the same methodology as WPI and it

has been very controversial for many months. Recently the NIH and the FDA

announced that they had confirmed the finding of the WPI.

Immediately the CDC announced they were publishing a paper refuting the

confirmation of the FDA and NIH findings. All three studies (WPI, NIH/FDA,

CDC),  have been through the peer review process and were slated to be

published in very well known and respected scientific Journals and the FDA/NIH

paper and the CDC paper were withdrawn after being accepted by these

publications. This in itself is extremely unusual. This is science within the

accepted protocol of publishing scientific findings. For Department of Health

and Human Services to intervene and stop the publications editorial board for

releasing these is very extreme response and has no precedent, nor do they have

the authority to do this.

Very Strange!
