Hey Jackie! I'm SO glad to see you posting!!! I've really, truly missed you. I've been having a real battle with pain myself so I can sympathize for sure. I saw my old neuro again (the one who dxed me with Transverse Myelitis and then with MS all those years ago). He started me on Baclofen and it's been such a wonderful thing. We're still working on the dosage. When I first started on it I had 3 nights in a row where I could sleep. Then the leg pain started walking me again. Then the Baclofen was increased and I could sleep again. It's been that kind of roller coaster with it. Anyway I'm so glad you are back amongst us! love...

Mine has been a slow progression, went from MS, to Transverse Myelitis, back to MS diagnosis.I am now pretty much confined to my house. I can walk with help, and when I go out I use a wheelchair. I have increased fatigue, and live with constant pain. My legs are the worse, with arms coming in a close second. I'm not on any MS meds, but I take diazepam for the spasms, and pain medicine helps a little with the pain. I also have FM, and a few other autoimmune illnesses to make sure all body

systems are dysfunctional. Lol,........humor is a must with any illness. Another thing I want to say about MS, is it is the strangest illness to have with all its weird sympotoms. I'll share about some of the ones I've experienced in another message, but I just wanted to say Hi, and WELCOME all the new people.Smiles, Jackie>> It's time to check in with the group, please. Relax. Yahoo! Mail virus scanning helps detect nasty viruses!

Hi Sharon,……I’m glad you are getting relief

with the baclofen. I tried it a few years ago, and it actually made my spasms

relax, but then I could hardly move it made the muscles too weak. Plus it made

me too dopey. So when I saw Dr. Swank in 1995, [he’s retired now] he put

me on Valium at a low dose as needed, and that’s what I use now. Not every

day, but only when I figure out the tightness is spasms, and there’s

something I can take for it. I don’t know why I forget? I think because I’m

in so much pain from other things I just lump everything together. Plus, I have

to be careful how much I take because I have adverse reactions from many meds.

I hate

the leg pain so much. They always hurt more when I am in bed. Now my feet have

been aching. It feels like I’ve been standing on cement floors for 12

hours.

Just this

last year I’ve been having episodes of tightness in my diaphragm muscles, and that is pretty scary when it makes it hard to

breathe. I caught the flu a month ago, and it hit my MS areas so hard I almost considered

going to the hosp. But I didn’t, and it took a couple days before I could

breathe deeply. I am thinking next year I probably need to get a flu shot, and

probably pneumonia one too. I think this bug showed me just how far my MS has

progressed, and how I can’t get by with ignoring the symptoms anymore. I never

thought it was that serious in me before now. I’m due for an evaluation

again, so I guess I’ll try and fit that in with all the other Dr. appts. I need to make too. My PCP has been bugging me to do

it, but I keep putting it off. Of course when you have trouble walking, it’s

hard to do anything! Luckily she understands! J

It’s

nice to be able to participate again. Thanks for the welcome back!

Hugs,

Jackie
