Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Boy do I like wood chips for gardening!! Every year I get several big truck loads and I spread these chips all around my gardens... I don't know about the DMSO/MMS aspect, but they sure do add in a lot of organic matter into the sandy soil here and I would presume they would also soften up some tougher soils such as clay... Ticks love leaf litter, something we probably all have if we have trees... Either raking up the leaves or covering them with wood chips rids the nice safe environment ticks like... They also like rotted logs, so never sit on a rotted log.. I always add in wood chips to my compost bin, they easily degrade and make excellent soil.. There is a lot of microbial action in decaying wood chips, so yes very healthy for soil! The small parts of my yard not covered in wood chips is the small amount of grass I have left... Each year I keep adding more and more wood chip pathways, they NEVER require water like the grass here in FL does... AND I have never had to mow them, thus saving all that exhaust from entering the air!! And I don't like mowing anyway!! And one of the best benefits of wood chips I now of, when spreading them from a HUGE pile onto the landscape, I sweat a heck of a lot, thus ridding my body of a lot of toxins!! As tough as this can be on my joints for a day or two (used to be 3 - 5 days), my fatigue and brain fog are much improved over the next few days!! DMSO is actually a process that starts with wood pulp, I am not sure if it is produced naturally say in a wood chip pile.. Thanks for the link! Jim > > Interesting video on gardening w/wood chips. In video the guy says wood chips ( 4 - 6 inches on top) soften the dirt underneath, even clay. So could it be that DMSO that is from wood, and DMSO is carrier and MSM (from the DMSO) is the softner to the dirt? Also, wood chips are antimicrobial to bad microbes, something lik e that if I got it right from video. I remember reading a while back that wood chopping boards are antimicrobial also. Also in video, wood chips help make heathy plants and that the amount of moisture in leaves drown insects. Drowns? insects and/or too much water to gulp? Maybe DMSO and MSM are working on the pests also? > Jim, was it you that said ticks don't like wood chip pathways? > http://backtoedenfilm.com >
