Hi ,

my experience has been that when ever I change something initially it is very

uncomfortable/painful for a while. My therapist likened it to a new physical

excercise regime. There will be aches and sore muscles that are not used to

being excercised.

Being able to 'hear',descern and sort out the thoughts that have probably been

running our lives is a difficult thing to do! many many people go through life

totally unaware of the thoughts and their impact.

in post # 20324 Stan humorously refers to the 'thoughts' as Radio JibberJabber.

JibberJabber) seriously and get lost in all sorts of painful, angry tangles! " " "

This is where I have found the Mindfulness excercises so helpful. I especially

like Russ 's, on his website. Some are free and the others are very

reasonably priced.

I recently watched an interview with Bill Moyers and Pema Chödrön. As I recall,

certainly not a quote, in response to his question about the value of

mindfulness meditation, she said that meditation creates 'space' in the mind.

Prior to having the new 'space' in my mind, my mind was crammed 110% of capacity

with all the anxious,irrational,fearful, etc, thoughts.

Having it described like this helped me see how this new 'space' in my mind,

space of calm and quiet, helped to alleviate some anxiety and worry, giving me

room to work on turning down the volume of the Radio JibberJabber, make 'wise

mind' choices not based on the inaccurate reporting of Radio JibberJabberand be

able to begin create a life worth living.

Hi, from a veiw of your thoughts,if you can state you can discern your thoughts ,then you have a good self observer,mindfulness, some can find it chalenging at first to discern thought,feelings, first ,then to do Defusion to them Can be even more challenging,.Thoughts, pay attention to them OR not , judge them, you not supposed , that again is the self observer Not to judge you thoughts ot feeling just accept them. What if you know your thoughts are dishonest and have been ,,before doing act....and your realizing it more now, and you start hearing how other people are dishonest . Where before you just didnt care, . Its a process, hope it makes sense.

What you're experiencing as you listen to the shock-jock on your inner radio

sounds completely normal.

He's not saying anything new and he's not saying it louder than he did before.

All that's happening is that you're becoming more aware of his crazy rants and

seeing them as the bullshit they are, that's all. He's just shouting the same

old junk in an effort to get you to believe what he believes.

Like shock-jocks on radios everywhere, he has a has a point of view, he wants

you to see the world the way he does. His way of thinking might be wrong and out

of touch with the way things really are, but he wants the best for you, he

really does.

My advice for what it's worth: treat the inner shock-jock in your head as you

would the radio in your house: smile at his rants and ravings while you ignore

him and do the things that matter in your life and give it meaning.
