We all have to trust our gut and do what we think is best for our children. That what I did. I didn't always do things right and sometimes it was ten steps back before we went forward again. Similar to what Margo is experiencing now. It is so hard and tiring to keep at this day in and day out. But Margo's son will be okay once the vitamin A level evens out. This is not permanent, just a setback, her post to this list probably saved many others from giving too much vitamin A to their kids. Over time I have learned that whenever my kid got a food he wasn't supposed to have I would have him drink lots of water and increase his exercise. This helps speed up the system to get rid of bad stuff faster. The only reason my kid is better is because I was right place at the right time to learn about Dr. G. My son is recovered; not sort of recovered, but fully recovered and it wouldn't have happened without Dr. Goldberg's protocol. My son is in college and living a full productive life. I want that for all kids on the spectrum. I would love nothing more than to leave the autism world and spend my days going out to lunch or reading a good book. However, we all need to play it forward. I know how fortunate I am and that's why I have a responsibility to help others, the way people helped me. The people on the list know Dr. G's protocol helps kids improve and get better. Why would I stay on that list and only tell people who already know about it? It's this list that needs to know about other choices. Stan Kurtz own child was treated by Dr. Goldberg. Maybe that is why he is better now. Margo did what any of us do. She did what she thought was best to help her child. I hope she stops beating herself up and doesn't stop fighting for her son. She is a great mom who deeply loves her child and would do anything to help him. We all make mistakes at times, but we have to make decisions on the information we have at the time. That is what Margo did and I hope she knows how much we all admire her for what she was trying to do to help her son. Someone who works as hard as she has, should never feel bad about doing what she thought was right at the time. I know she needs to take a break from being doctor, teacher, protector and therapist all rolled into one and just be mommy. But please Margo, never accept your child can't be helped or get better. Hang in there and know we have all been on the ledge where you are now. Never give up and call if I can help in anyway. Guest guest
Oh, I agree 100%, . Marcia, you are doing so much good and helping so many people. We also started down the DAN road after my son's diagnosis, and I could be where Margo is today if I didn't 'happen upon' you and Dr. Goldberg's protocol. We haven't even begun treatment with Dr. (still trying to get blood tests here in Canada!!!) but have seen dramatic improvements by just eliminating immune system triggers. The only other supplement at this time is Kyodophilus. It just made sense to me that the reason these children are deficient in certain vitamins is because their little bodies are just not working properly. Evidence now indicates that many autistic children have immune, digestive and endocrine systems that are not functioning normally, and they really do need medical treatment. Please try to stay strong, Margo. Your son is lucky to have a mom like you who is fighting so hard for him. Guest guest
Amen to that! I don't know what I would do without your counsel and support. We have to be so careful as parents to first do no harm to our child in our quest to heal them; however, that's not always easy because we so desperately want them to get better. It's good to have people who can pull us back from the ledge. Your posts are always so caring and supportive. Guest guest
Great reply Marcia! God put you in these lists and our lives to help us all, no doubt about it. Why would someone want to stay in the angels' list when it is others that need to be saved...hope you get my point. Â From: and Marcia Hinds <hindssite@...> Subject: We must spread the word our kids can get better to other autism lists Date: Sunday, December 5, 2010, 9:22 AM Â List mates, This following is a post on another list (mb12Valtrex list) where a mom, Sally, asked me to stop talking about Dr. G. Just for background. Margo's son got very sick because she was giving him too much vitamin A as per her DAN doctor's prescription. His hair fell out and he was really ill. Margo is a great mom who was trying to help her kid. My heart ached when I read her words, " I am just so tired ... I am ready to just accept him for who he is and stop all of this... I don't want to hurt him anymore " But none of us can stop until our kids get better. We have all been there like Margo and need to give parents a protocol that does something. We need to play it forward. We are all here because someone helped us learn about . But what it shows me is that we all need to be on lists we don't necessarily agree with so moms learn about Dr. and Dr. Goldberg and . There are too many kids getting dangerous care from doctors that don't follow up with blood work and don't keep as close an eye on how these kids are doing. So I need your help spreading the word that these kids are ill and can get better with treatment. My answer to Sally is after her post below. Guest guest
Marcia, Thank you for being so courageous and playing it forward! It can sometimes feel like a thankless task. Guest guest
Hi Tammy, We removed triggers from food (gluten, casein, tree nuts, sulphites, nitrites, food dyes, artificial flavor/coloring, GMO's - genetically modified organisms, soy and corn). Sugar also depresses the immune system (I know this from my own personal experience) so we have tried to limit the amount of sugar we eat. We also eliminated allergens from our environment, such as toxic cleaning solutions, carpets, synthetic fabrics & bedding, and non-stick and aluminum cookware. Both of my boys also now have air purifiers in their rooms. Hope this helps.
