Dr 's office should have a list of recommendations that they send out

with the new pt packet and lab orders.

We stayed at a holiday Inn off island, maybe 20min away.  It wasn't

particularly

nice & I don't think it had a pool (too cold right now for a pool anyway), but

it was free  because we had lots of travel points.  There are also private

places to rent thru some rental agency there too.  Just depends on how much you

want to pay.

We went to a natural history museum while we were there - can't remember what

city - it wasn't a particularly bad drive - and I LOVED it.  If you're into

that

sort of thing.  It had an incredible geology display - best I've seen, and

I think old ships but I haven't been to many natural history museums so I can't

make a comparisson.  (Makes me want to, though.)  We went somewhere else but

my

brain was so fried I don't remember anything else except cacti and sunflowers

everywhere.

There are a few places you can drive right onto the beach and have a picnic, if

it's not too cold.

Have a good trip!  It's not a touristy kind of town - it feels more like

driving

around in a normal city. It's like a place you'd like to live, but not

particularly exciting to travel to like true beach towns, so be sure to go to

the chamber of commerce site for there and surrounding cities to line up

activities.  His office is tiny in a little strip - like most single-doctor

practices are.  I got a little bored because I didn't plan well (but then I was

pretty much incapable of planning at that time).  There is also plenty of good

food but I couldn't tell you names.  The locals can though.

We flew in to see him last May. Stayed at the holiday inn emerald Isle in

Corpus Christi since that was fairly close to the airport. There seems to be a

lot of cheaper hotel/motel places but not all are kept up well. We trusted the

chain name and went with the Holiday Inn. The hotel was nice and it was right

on the beach. Our 10 year old didn't care much for the beach, but did enjoy

the indoor playground, pool and hot tub in the hotel. Dr. 's office was

about 45 minutes from the hotel. His office is so casual, our son didn't

realized we were in a doctors waiting room until he got to the exam room..then

he freaked out a bit because he hates doctors and exams and all that...but Dr.

was very nice and calming...mostly just observed him while we talked.

I'm glad we went, but 7 months later, we are still looking for an improvement

and not really seeing one. They say it takes time, but I think we should have

seen something by now, so I am starting to think we need to try something else.

Tamara,

We lived in Corpus Christi TX for 30 yrs so we stayed at a motel there.  It was

located on SPID ( South Padre Island Drive) between Weber and Staples.  The

name escapes me, but it was a nice facility.  Port Aransas is approximately a

45 min. from Corpus Christi.  Port Aransas can be accessed via a ferry or from

driving up the island from Corpus Christi.

In Corpus Christi there is a great museum, the Texas State Aquarium and USS

Lexington all along the bayfront.

I'm sure there are a number of nice motels in Aransas Pass TX and Port Aransas

too, just not familar with them.  Port Aransas is a quaint island town and has

a number of restaurants.  It has a layed back attitude and don't be surprised

if Dr. and his staff are wearing shorts.  ( hopefully the weather will

not be too cool while you are there).

If I can think of the motel where we stayed, I will let you know.

Thank You Tammy for all your great info.. I am sad to hear you have not

seen any improvements. Is Dr. at-emit about trying new things? I

hope he keeps thinking of new ways to treat your son. He sounds like he

is very personable! Best Regards,Tammy F.

He's sweet.  I think I freaked him out though. :)  I was stressed, wired,

running late, didn't even get the kids fed breakfast!  A first.  My son, who

often is functioning so well you have to look hard for the spectrum, was ticked

off about being rushed out early, and was acting soooo wierd and misbehaving so

badly that I couldn't think, I would just gape at him, so appalled that he was

acting how he was.  I was hyper kicked in x 100.  It was awful, and the more

aware I became of it, the more stressed out I got, which just made it worse.

LOL!  That's about all I can remember about that visit.  It was awful.

lol.

Poor Dr .  I'll have to revisit just so that 'normal for ' can

maybe

walk in the doors - let him see his progress!  Oh geez it's been over a year

and

I'm still embarrassed lol.

Hi ,Oh my gosh what a story. You are making me rethink my 9:00a.m

appt. time:-) . I can see me doing the same thing. I would imagine that

it was a good thing that Dr. R. saw your son misbehaving. So he could see

that your sons body is very stressed. At least thats what I tell myself

when my son misbehaves.:-) Thanks for your

response,Tammy F.

Tamara,

I remembered the name of the motel where we stayed in Corpus Christi, it was the

StayBridge Suites on Oakhurst.  We had a 1 bedroom suite to accomodate

our group.  My husband and I went with our daughter to assist her with our

grandson () and his twin sister.  We requested a ground floor room due to

our grandson likes to jump/run.  Last year while traveling we had a complaint

regarding this from folks in the room below. They have a great hot breakfast

included in the room rate.
