Dr. Goldberg and Insurance Help - United Health Care

Hi Everyone,

We're new to Dr. Goldberg and are trying to figure out our health insurance.

We have the option to switch to the UnitedHeathCare Choice Plus plan for which

Dr. Goldberg is in network.

However, I'm told that in some cases, insurance companies don't cover phone

consultations, so that would be an issue for us.

So here are my questions:

1) Has anyone successfully used UnitedHC for Dr. Goldberg consultations

(especially phone)

2) Does UnitedHC Typically cover the blood tests and prescriptions from Dr.

Goldberg?

3) Could anyone list the typical blood tests and prescriptions that Dr. G

requires?

Thanks - this would be a huge help to have these questions answered.

Darren,

I have never used United HC, but perhaps my experience with insurance and Dr G

could help you make a decision.

Before we started with Dr G, I purposedly switched to a POS plan, which is PPO

plus HMO, Blue Shield POS, which Dr G is a provider.

Our monthly insurance premiums increased by over 50%. Phone consultations is a

non covered benefit for either PPO or HMO. Most of the counsultations for my son

are by phone, which means that most of them I pay out of packet. In January I'm

switching back to Blue Shield HMO that will cover the lab work. The lab tests is

the most expensive part of this program. WIth the mostly savings in the premium

I will be able to cover the monthly visits, which I'm already paying out of

pocket anyways.

We see Dr. R in TX. We have UHC Choice Plus (I think it's a ppo).

1. I was pleasantly surprised that they did cover our first phone consult. We

just got billed for the copay.

2. Our valtrex is covered, but only as the tablet. The first time we got it as

a suspension and had to pay the whole thing. Now we just get the tablets and a

pill crusher.

3. Some of the tests are listed at http://nids.net/labtests.htm

Hi ,

Did they continue to cover your phone consultations? Or are you now seeing

someone local to you?

Thanks,

Darren
