Kathi,

Try contacting American Airlines and several of the other airlines to see

if you can get a free flight to travel to see Dr. Goldberg. I believe the

program is called Angel Wings but don't recall for sure. AA gave us three

free round trip tickets several years ago when we traveled to see Dr. G.

They may not be as generous with such a tough economy, but it's worth

calling around or doing some web searches for free or discounted travel for

medical reasons. Good luck,

Gaylen

Kathi,

I apologize... I honestly can¹t remember the names of the hotels we stayed

in right now, but every time we¹ve gone out, we¹ve gotten a different hotel

through Priceline and they¹ve all been fine.

One thing that is nice to know is that there is a Mc¹s right across

the street in front of Dr. G¹s office. Depending on the time of your

appointment, you can go there to kill time before the appointment (I always

want to be really early so I¹m sure I¹m not late), or afterwards.

Also, there are In-N-Out Burger restaurants all over the place. Fresh,

delicious burgers! I think the burgers are fine (but maybe not the buns...

maybe we took our own buns?)... can¹t remember , but the fries were OK on

the diet as well (of course, not too many).

You can go to _http://www.in-n-out.com/_ (http://www.in-n-out.com/) and

e-mail with questions if need be.

It¹s so nice to have a different place to eat that is ³safe² and all over

the place in LA.

Also, if you can take a tape recorder with you to the appointment, it can

be

a godsend. I did (Dr. G has always been very gracious in allowing us to

record appointments... of course we always ask before doing so). I remember

leaving the first appointment with my head swimming and when I listened to

the tape later, there were things he said that I didn¹t even remember....

there was just so much to try to take in. I think I ran out of my 90 minute

tape that first time, so take plenty and some extra batteries.

HTH,

Caroline G.
