Guest guest
I have news to share. I posted awhile ago about a student of mine was being abused and I was asked if I would testify at the court hearing. I was subpoenaed and today I was at the court hearing. I did get to testify and with all the compassion and passion I could gather inside of me I shared what she had told me. I had all my information documented and I spoke not with my emotion, but with facts I had. Being an abused child myself at one time..I know the pain of not having your voice heard. So I felt like I was one of the voices for my student. It was a defining moment for me. I learned during the hearing my 10 year old student was also sexually abused. She comes from a family of 8, and I can't even really tell you how badly the younger siblings were being treated. I got to see the system in progress and the judge was so hard on Social Services and the people trying to help these children. In the end, the judge was really listening....and he found in favor of the children. His words to the mother of the children were profound...and made me get teary eyed. I can't even tell you how empowering this whole experience was and I had a part in all of this. I did learn my student is with her older sister and in a good foster home.... The most important thing was though the voice of this child was not silenced........ Malinda
Guest guest
I am so glad you were able to stand up and testify for her. There should be more people like you in the world. I hope that her life from here on out improves exponentially now that she is out of that home. It is so wonderful that you did this. And I bet it is probably very healing too, to be able to stand up for a child since no one stood up for you. (((hugs)))

Guest guest
Hi Malinda, This is so amazing! That you helped save this girl's life and give her a fighting chance is wonderful to hear. I would have given anything if someone had intervened and gotten me away from my abusve nada. You must feel on top of the world. > > I have news to share. Guest guest
one thousand kisses to you malinda and one thousand prayers for all the children in the world who are now in the situation we were in then. Any thoughts anyone on doing an event or something to honor and bring awareness to those kids? I work in media relations, and I could see " adult children of the mentally ill speak out against child abuse " becoming an interesting headline. Randi, are you listening? I can't imagine anything more worthwhile. Hell, I'd even consider coming out as a KO on the today show if it saved a child's mental health and personal identity. Such a scary thought but I bet many of us would. Maybe we could time it with the release of Randi's new book. > > Hi Malinda, > This is so amazing!
