Wouldn't this mean that MOST probiotics are bad for PANDAS kids since the majority have streptocci and all that I have seen have some form of lactobacilli? Or is that not the same as lactobacillus? Not a good thing since these kids are usually on long term antibiotics.
Guest guest
Paediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococci Bacteria http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PANDAS Keep in mind, the criteria for diagnosis are changing in (1) age of onset (used to be 3 years and now that is being reconsidered) and (2) the type of infection (i.e. it may not be strep. It may be viral, lyme, another bacteria, etc. that is raising the CamKinase scores.) Guest guest
No - Most kids should be able to take the probiotics, but once in a while *some* may not be able to. If giving probiotics, though, it should be limited to few strains, and be aware of the possibility. And avoid l.rhamasuss, especially culturelle - it's definitely the worst and I've seen a lot of feedback on that one over the years. Plenty of PANDAS kids are on probiotics without making things worse. There's just a few of us who can't take them. HTH ________________________________ From: Ranee Fear <rfear@...> Sent: Wed, September 29, 2010 9:17:45 AM Subject: Re:Oldie on Culturelle & why it might irritate PANDAS  I think I need help understanding this as well.
